Pesci plays his younger brother Joey LaMotta, he plays a badass. This even tops his performance in Goodfellas IMO, believe it or not. Have you seen Casino? Pesci is ****in amazing in that too.

they arent terrible they are just unrealistic and the special effects are terrible.

Like there is one part where they try to make it look like blood is splattered all over the ringside reporters, but you can clearly tell its just a bucket of dark water being poored on some unfotunate dudes. lol

Hollywood has always over-dramatized boxing fight scenes. No defense, NON STOP offense. However, it's easily overlooked as the rest of the movie is incredibly done.

i thought ali did a great job of making it more realistic. they actually had missed punches and clinching.

even the color of the ropes and the trunks for miami were dead on.

What are you talking about, blood always gets spattered on the media when there is a slugfest, lol. Remember Merchant's quote during Pavlik vs Taylor "This must be a good fight Jim, I've already got 3 drops of blood on my shirt", LMFAO.

They also had this thing in the film "Ali" where they had this photography who had taken shots of Ali all throughout his career. So, in the film, they matched every one of those shots, with the films version of it. It was something cool to try, but in a sense, helped keep the film a bit more on the real side. A very underrated film, if you ask me. I was generalizing, more or less, when I said Hollywood. However, I stand corrected.

in general, you are correct about hollywood.

funny thing about boxing is that the mainstream and sports media doesn't respect it much, but people love boxing films.

rocky, raging bull, set-up, cinderella man, million $ baby, on the waterfront (indirectly a boxing movie, its famous quote is certainly boxing related), etc...

An unbelievably great movie. Robert De Niro gives ones of the greatest performances ever! Watch out for the scene in the prison cell near the end, when a fat Jake goes mental, ****ing his head off the wall. It for me is the most powerful dramatci scene of all time. My hairs stand on end everytime I see that bit.

lol, lampley are merchant always talk about stuff like that.

like one time Lampley said basically the same thing, he said, "Well this is a great fight ive already got 5 blood drops on my paper, what about you larry?"

and larry probably didnt hear him cause he's so old. lol. no response from him. lol

Merchants getting old. I also remember during the KLISTCHKO-BROCK pre-fight stuff, Lampley was about to ask Merchant a question and then just pauses and goes, "but before u answer larry u might wanna pick up ur mic..." lol

                      great scene.

my favorite is when he comes from the dressing room to fight cerdan for teh title.

scorsese= the king of brilliant, long, continuous follow shots.
