It wouldn't matter who he beat people still wouldn't put him in their league because most of our older fighters are overrated to an extent.

History tends to be kinder to boxers than current opinion. But history tends to be right. In the case of Leonard and Hearns, IMO they are not overrated. The question is whether or not Calzaghe is underrated right now. The fight with Kessler will help clarify this.

Out of the ENTIRE ARTICLE that's the one paragraph you fap off to. Obsessive much?

I concur they are two of the greatest to ever lace up gloves. However in some cases people tend to think what they have done to be unreachable, they are only human and their are others who can reach or even surpass their status.

            I most definitely agree.

I thought it was interesting that Katz is coming around to the notion that Hatton has a reasonable opportunity here.

As soon as I saw the title, I thought, "Michael Katz."

Author calls the SMW a bastard weight class, actually he is a bastard himself. When I hear that European bums accomodate there to avoid honoured americans (brave, and free etc.), it just reminds me about Benn-McClellan and Benn-Barkley. Both absolutely destroyed.

Such articles are just SOOOOOO ridiculous.

Who the hell Hopkins fought in 'TRUE' middleweight division in 1995-2000? Absolutely no one (unless you take Glenn 'Construction worker' Johnson seriousely). Then he defeated two WELTERS and capitalised his legacy as MIDDLEWEIGHT  Why the hell MW is more legitimate than SMW if legacy is based on wins over WELTERS?

Who the hell RJJ fought in 'TRUE' LHW division? Mike 'OLD' McCallum, Virgil 'Coming out of a loss' Hill and plenty of ABSOLUTE bums

It can be reasonabely argued that these american icons were avoiding Benn, Eubank, and, of course, some other good american fighters like Nunn and Liles.

Very good article. Finally someone agrees with what I have been saying all along about Calzaghe. He is overprotected, overrated and does not deserve to be mentioned in the same sentence as Hagler, Hearns, Leornard or even Bernard Hopkins. Look at his list of his last 10 opponents.Only Jeff Lacy was a legitimate contender and a legitimate threat. Then look at the last 10 opponents of Hopkins, Mayweather and Pacquaio. Huge difference in quality of opposition.

No matter. Calzaghe will get exposed this weekend. And Katz was right. Ricky Hatton does stand a chance against Mayweather. He stands about as much of a chance as I have of winning the lottery!!!!!

Either way, I do find it a bit off that the jump between middleweight to super middleweight is 8 pounds. And another 8 pounds up is Light Heavyweight......25 frickin' pounds later is Cruiser!
