Kelly Pavlik Not As Good As I Thought.

After seeing him fight Jermain Taylor and winning, this is my summary of Kelly Pavlik.

Let me begin by saying, he is a top guy, and I don't hate him AT ALL before you all jump in and label me as a hater, but this is what I've come to conclude:

He was exposed as having a weak chin, Jermain isn't really powerful, yet he managed to really rock Pavlik, and didn't go on to finish him off.

He doesn't come across as a solid middle weight.

Doesn't fight like an elite pro boxer ,i.e. swift crisp punches, reflexes, head movement etc... look at fighters like mosley, de la hoya, floyd, barrera, vasquez fight or spar, and you'll know what I mean.

He seems like a raggy doll.

I don't care if you disagree with me, but that is my analysis.

JERMAINE IS STRONG; IF HE WASN'T HE WOULDN'T OF LASTED 24 ROUNDS WITH HOPKINS TWO,WHEN PAVLIK GOT KNOCKED DOWN YOU CAN SEE HIM ******LY TAUNTING TAYLOR AND HIS LEGS WERE UNSTEADY MORE BECAUSE OF NERVOUSNESS IN THE BIGGEST FIGHT OF HIS CAREER.

        lol, exactly.

Pavlik has a WORLD CLASS chin and there is absolutely no way you can doubt that. its not even like an opinion.

Taylor CAN hit hard for sure... but if you go back and count how many punches it tooke to send Pavlik down... im sure you'll reach something like 20 flush HARD shots???

        lol, thats a fantastic chin.

And i think he has all the traits of an improving professional fighter. People make the mistake that he has reached his peak, he hasnt. He has improved everytime ive seen him.

His defense looks better and better each time out. He punches like a truck. The reason you dont see those crisp shots is because he has slow handspeed. When a punch lands its more a THUD then a CRACK.

I think he has all the tools to become a top 5 p4p fighter, and he'll be there by the end of '08

I disagree with you, and your analysis is ******.

He was never exposed as having a weak chin. He has been dropped twice previous to the Taylor bout...he went on to knock out both opponents.

Only thing that Taylor 'exposed' was that he's a slow starter. Takes a few rounds to warm up and he is prone early.

And he is an elite boxer. Like it or lump it, he is the best MW we have. He does not fight pretty...and at times he wings his shots, but he is smart in there and has a good feel for the sport. I dont see how his style really correlates how 'elite' he is. You ****ing tool.

Pavlik's chin is pretty iron IMO. Jermain can punch and he hit Pav flush plenty of times and he stayed up.

I can't believe you say he has a glass chin. First off, not only does Jermain have power, he throws pretty accurately and fast combos. Second, you don't need to be a crafty boxer to be the best in a division. He has power a massive heart and generally always gameplans good for his fights.

Not to mention he took plenty of flush shots from Edison Miranda, who is a murderous puncher. He also took the best punches from Zertuche,Zuniga and Mckart, all of the guys I mentioned have good or great power.
