One thing that irritates me about Hopkins

Well.. the fact that he was undefeated, after becoming a champion for the next twenty fights, and you still knit-pick the fact that he didn't, at the time own all the titles. He collected them all, and never lost. I'd honestly see making a case for undisputed, at any point. Considering, any time another champion who TRIED to dispute it, got shut down.

I didn't think about that. Very good point.

The 4 belts make it easier to become a world champion, but make it harder to become THE world champion, so it's a help and hurt at the same time for fighters. It seems to benefit the weaker divisional elite fighters, and hurt the true elite fighters.

Joe Louis only had to fight one fight to become the undisputed champion, Hopkins had to fight 4.
