Well you are right he did shame the sport of boxing I can see where you are coming from with that. I just feel that a individuals actions should not reflect on everybody else involved in the same sport as that individual.

Mike Tyson held the sport up for an amount of time. He was the reason countless people decided to watch this sport. He was, for the most part, good for the sport.

The sport of boxing and many people involved and even people not directly involved with the sport like the media all did extremely well out of Mike Tyson.

people love a bad guy and even though most respected people wont actually say it they know that boxing only profited from Tyson,to say he shamed the sport is unfair but i do agree he brought some shame on himself

                Tyson is a paradox.
For every good thing he did he negated it a thousand times with his Ear-biting and trying to break opponents arms and his life outside the ring.

How anyone can make excuses for his behaviour is beyond me.

Here is a man who amassed over 300 million dollars yet couldn't find happiness.
He has had EVERY CHANCE in life to live better than where he came from.
Ultimately Mike is a man like the rest of us albeit he had an extraordinary talent for the sport of boxing.
Like each and every one of us he is responsible for his OWN actions.
So he had a troubled childhood....
                And....
So what ...many people including myself came from a **** childhood.
People who use this as an excuse probably NEVER had a **** childhood.

Would those of you who can ignore his **** conviction and his other crimes be so forgiving if it was your sister or mother , Brother or father that he had wronged?

                I doubt it very much.

Like I said he is a paradox because he was the man that fed my enthusiasm as a kid for the sport of boxing.
Now when I look at him I feel sorrow for what he has become but ultimately he has made his own rod.

If it wasn't for Boxing Mike would either be dead or locked up a long time ago.

                So has Mike shamed boxing?
                In my opinion yes.

It is only Mike's high profile that has saved him from being rejected by any sane human being.

Tyson was the best thing since Ali. Not even LL had an impact like Tyson did.
