    No, playboy.

There is no difference. Other than the decibels of "yay" and "boo", what is the difference?

Yes Hatton has a bigger fanbase. He has an entire country behind his back.

A small country compared to the U.S.A. California alone is bigger then England. Think about that.

        It's not bull****.

Marketing and promotion isn't free. With the exception of press conferences and media calls. But the audiences for those marketing events ALREADY know about the fight.

HBO/GBP is making a business decision about the marketing budget and the potential upside in 'buys' for this fight.

Miguel Cotto has not generated good PPV nums, and Shane only does good nums with another name.

This fight will do solid-ish, but not big, nums.

There are fight fans and fans of fighters, a subtle but important distinction.

I have thought about it but it doesn't seem important. And by the way, Hatton has nowhere near the entire country behind his back.

Of course he doesn't. I just tried to acknowledge his popularity on his home turf the best way I could.

America is a big place to be star in compared to Manchaster. That's why Floyd went on to Dancing with the stars. That show is being watched by 20 million people and most of them don't even follow boxing.

He is letting his face be seen and maybe somebody will get curious and look Floyd Mayweather up and read about him and the fight he has coming up and actually order it. If not either way they will remember the name.

Ok I didn't look at the statistics but I knew they were both in multiple millions.
                    But you get the picture.
That's 2 California's then. Now look at the Map and see how much more space is left of America. This is the entertainment capital. You can't become a hotshot champion around here and automatically become popular all over the place. That's exactly what Hatton is enjoying at his neck of the woods back at home.

It's about promotion over here. You have to have some kind of shtick besides being a good fighter. Floyd is promoting himself every day increasing his fame.
Popularity? Not so much but fame yes.

If Delahoya is the only reason why May5th did so well then why did that fight do more PPV numbers then Delahoya/Trinidad? Which is Puerto Rico vs Mexico, two prime undefeated champions. That fight was big but Floyd/Delahoya was bigger because of Floyd Mayweather and his fame and ability to promote himself and the fight he is in.

Cotto had a promoted fight on HBO with Abdullaev. OK. It did good gate at MSG. It was PR parade.

Cotto had a poorly-promoted PPV with Malignaggi. It did about 100K. Not his fault. It had good gate at MSG.

Cotto had a well-promoted co-feature with Margarito on Showtime.

Cotto has a VERY well-promoted card with a known name. Zab Judah. At MSG. PR Day parade. Great gate. Sold out. But the PPV nums were ****ty. A definite disappointment. Completely Miguel's fault.

What has Miguel ever done done to increase his visibility or promote his fights? He is a ****in monotone. A robot. A cyborg. If he wants to make money, he needs to cut out the Ivan Drago bull****.
