Where the **** is Wladimir Klitschko, he is arguably the hardest puncher of all time and I think he has one of the single hardest punches. Vitali should also be on that list too.

yeah i know its just that it sounded like he was 100% sure, and all the wlad nut hugging is getting annoying. I am 100% sure that bruno is the hardest puncher of all time followed by Audrey Harrison and i have loads of evidence to back this up.

IMO...

Earnie Shavers is the hardest single-shot hitter in the history of the sport (though on the lb4lb scale, I give the honor to Julian Jackson)....
but Joe Louis is the best puncher of all time. Louis is the ultimate offensive boxing machine, followed by Thomas Hearns. Again, not the hardest punchers, but the most lethal.

Well Pana, contrary to what the typical "average fan" thinks punching power is probably the LEAST important of the major factors that go into making a fighter. Chin is probably the most important, along with speed and defense. There have been many matchups over the years featuring "great-punch, no-chin" fighters against "no-punch, great-chin" fighters. The chins normally win that matchup. Good examples: Shavers Vs. Cobb, Satterfield Vs. LaMotta. Power does NOT equal champion. In a normal era (ie. not weak), in a given division you need to have a number of strengths to your credit to be a champion. Why wasn't Gerry Cooney champion? Afterall he had power out the ass. Power wasn't enough, though. He faced a well rounded fighter in Larry Holmes and he was too deficient in other areas to win.

peter wasnt in good shape for mccline. he's a better fighter when he's <250 lbs. he was a tight 243 for wlad. 250+ is just too heavy for him

Iv'e not seen much of Earnie Shavers so can't really say for sure. Foreman, the way he dismantled Joe frazier twice, has to be a top contender for the hardest puncher; or Marciano, for a little guy he hit like a mule.

The name of Earnie Shavers figures prominently in every discussion of hard punchers in the heavyweight division. I suspect that many who declare him the hardest puncher ever, do so for the sole purpose of seeming cool, hip and knowledgeable. If he was as hard a puncher as so many purport him to to be, he must have been one lousy fighter. Otherwise, how do you explain a puncher of his caliber never having won a championship?

I must cop to extreme prejudice against non-champions. To put this in perspective: I have more respect for John Ruiz (a lousy fighter) than I do for Earnie Shavers (a great puncher). In my ****-retentive-narrow-minded point of view, a great puncher who has never won a championship is akin to a toothless pitbull - all bark and no bite.

The fellas who denied Shavers a world crown had names like Ali and Holmes.

Shavers was given a shot at world titles only twice.

After their fight, Ali was quoted as saying, "Ernie hit me so hard, he shook my kinfolk back in Africa." Shavers had KD'd Ali.

Ali also said, Shavers is "...a tough nut to crack," as he waved a plastic replica of an acorn at the tip of a keychain. That was how Ali gave Shavers one of his two ring monikers, "The Acorn."(The other was, "The Black Destroyer."

Shavers KD'd Holmes in the 7th round of their second fight before losing by TKO in the 11th--totally exhausted.

There were those who thought they saw Holmes out of it on his way to the canvass. He dropped to the canvass like the proverbial empty sack. Miraculously, he managed to rise.

An overhand right was what did it.
