I must cop to extreme prejudice against non-champions. To put this in perspective: I have more respect for John Ruiz (a lousy fighter) than I do for Earnie Shavers (a great puncher). In my ****-retentive-narrow-minded point of view, a great puncher who has never won a championship is akin to a toothless pitbull - all bark and no bite.
    Any rebuttals?

At least your honest in your assesment of yourself.
I think that it wasn't so much that he was a lousy fighter but he fought in the most competitive era ever. Not only were they all talented in their own way but most of them could take a lot of punishment and had quality chins.
Maybe had he got a chance against Frazier or Norton for the title he may have won it and would have been looked upon as more than just a great puncher. Same can be said for Ron Lyle.

in fact it is a very good point............

I picked Jeffries, but it was a very close call with Dempsey and Foreman. Too close to call really.

Joe Louis is getting shafted. I gave it to Foreman he got the KO's against the top of the division, guys who could take a punch.

Louis not being shafted because he's on the list. But, he's not the hardest puncher of all time.
