All of these fights are great. But its not an exact science which rates higher than another. Its difficult to measure.

Although itt would make an interesting debate if people broke down exactly why they think one fight is better than another. Rating it in terms of drama, knockdowns, the fighters condition (age/ring wear/record etc).

i wish more people could see franklin-johnson 1 or pryor-arguello 1, good call!
QUOTE=Thread Stealer;2754734]it is a good brawl but people act like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

why do people say it's the best fight ever or in the top 5? do people just not watch enough fights in general?

here's a quick list off the top of my head of better fights than gatti-ward:

      brooks-curry
      chacon-limon 4
      corrales-castillo 1
      carbajal-gonzalez 1
      franklin-johnson 1
      muhammad-lopez 2
      chacon-edwards 2
      pryor-arguello 1
      ali-frazier 3
      ali-frazier 1
      gatti-robinson 1
      barrera-morales 1
      sithwhateverhisnameis-monishpour
      demarco-basillo 2
      holyfield-bowe 1
      holyfield-qawi[/QUOTE]

        exactly.

instead of people getting their panties in a bunch because i "dissed" their precious little gatti-ward scrap, they ought to watch more fights.

gatti-ward is one of many great fights, and there have been quite a few better than it.

              Your calling this overrated????

Great fights are made when guys go to 100% of their capability and beyond. each of them, like Micky Ward refusing to let himself lose no matter what, there's nothing else he could have done in the ring.

i don't think that trilogy was overrated, it was a throwback, that's why everyone loved it, it had blood and guts, it had warriors heart and courage. to stand in front of another man and say **** it, lets beat the **** out of each other until someone dies is very exciting. i have it on my my all time top 5. and i don't have short term memory, i just like that trilogy. i don't think anyone on here has short term memory, just a short term as boxing fans. it's just no fighters have gone that maney rounds fighting like they did for so many years.

not if the talent differential is too big.
