I disagree and I base this on Hatton's proven angled attacks leading to and the primary factor in 40+ wins in spite of his short reach, and Mayweather's KD by Zab Judah and being forced into the ropes and losing rounds as a result by ODLH.
They both have great footwork, Mayweather is a good in and out type while Hatton has unreal lateral movement, but overall I give it to Hatton. And before you bring up the "look at how well mayweather gets off the ropes" story, its a result of him tiring out opponents with the frustrating philly shell, not an incredible athletic move sideways.
Mayweather is the better fighter, Hatton has better foot movement, I know its hard to give credit to a white fighter for footspeed(FYI im not white so I have no stake in this regardless) but hey, things happen.Comment

The Judah knockdown didn't diminish Floyd's footwaork in my eyes. He was trying to throw a low jab to the body, and got caught by a quick-handed power puncher. STILL, he wa barely off-balance and recovered immediately. Coupled with the other instance where they tangled, and both nearly fell. But neither didn't.
For example of orthodox/southpaw stumbling, please refer to Hatton going down on all fours in round 12 of Collazo.
I won't convince you otherwise, but I think that you will change your perspective after Dec 8th.
With regard to white fighters and their footwork, I think Paulie , for example, has very good footwork. So I don't bring any preconceived notions to that opinion.Comment

I dont know if you have boxed or not, but I think you dont have a complete picture of what great footwork is.The Judah knockdown didn't diminish Floyd's footwaork in my eyes. He was trying to throw a low jab to the body, and got caught by a quick-handed power puncher.
a sign of not necessarily the greatest footwork. No one should go down when not hurt. He was caught off balance throwing single shots

But neither didn't. ?

Irrelevant

Hatton has 40+ wins off of lateral footwork.
Him losing wont change that-Hatton losing will have very little to do with floyd's footwork, same with all of Floyds wins.Comment

I think it's easy to get fixated on the notion of footwork as a purely defensive maneuvre, and if that were true then you'd be right, Hatton doesn't ever out and out defend by using his feet. But Hatton brings some things to the fight that Floyd doesn't have, for example his ability at closing the distance quickly and his ability at moving out of range by sidestepping out of the clinch. Hatton has very fast feet. The Judah knockdown didn't diminish Floyd's footwaork in my eyes. He was trying to throw a low jab to the body, and got caught by a quick-handed power puncher.
