By doing what he has to do to win. Sometimes and against certain fighters strong offense is your best defense.
Most important of all is just because Hatton hasn't lost doesn't mean his defense isn't terrible.

I wouldnt say Hatton has terrible defense, his style just doesnt allow for the type of defense we are accustomed to seeing in the ring.

They compare Hatton to Gatti because their styles are similar, except Hatton clinches more and doesnt have Gatti's power, but Hatton is just a little bit better at everything else (handspeed, footwork, defense).
Also, people believe the outcome of Hatton V Mayweather could turn out like Mayweather v Gatti, which is definitly possible.
