taylor won't be in any hurry to get th rematch, he'll probably have a couple easy fights first. after losing like he did, getting knocked the **** out in a fight he thought he was winning, he'll need to get his head right. when they fight again, pavlik will most likely KO his ass again. pavlik is mentally stronger than taylor, and always will be. taylor should really forget about pavlik and try to get a fight with calzaghe, joe will slap him silly but he can't really hurt taylor

I personally dont think an immediate rematch for taylor is what should happen.

I think Taylor should take the time to sort things out and take some other fights and allow pavlik to fight on and come back and fight him in about a year.

If taylor decides to take the rematch with pavlik so soon i believe he will be lacking confidence (he just had his first loss...a knockout loss at that) and he'll feel rushed to get prepared for the fight (since pavlik was going to fight in the end of janurary) and things will just be hurried without tuneup fights and such.

taylor should take one "tune up" fight.

then go in against a fighter in his class (not a b or C class fighter; a real legit one) like forrest or abraham not a no name with 7 losses on FNF or something.

      then another tune up fight

now take that rematch with pavlik.

this may sound like an extremely conservative route but sometimes taking your time to returning to the best possible form of yourself you can be is the best thing to do.

he fought pavlik close in their first fight (in my opinion) with taylor knocking pavlik down; and pavlik knocking taylor out as well as appearing to be pretty evenly matched (in my opinon) so if taylor puts his all into being the best he can be and he still loses at least he will know they are close but pavlik is just better.

I think taylor has some of the best promise in the middleweight division.

      why?

he has power (he knocked down pavlik who has an iron chin so you cant really deny that unless you deny pavlik's chin)

he has foot and hand speed (he's one of the quickest fighters in the middleweight division)

he can box (he's not a one-dimensional fighter that can only brawl)

he has great natural god given talent.

all he needs to do now is get that fire back and stay focused and learn to really listen to manny and the rest of his team and stop going down the path of judah.

i say take the conservative route because i think this loss really got to taylor (especially because it was a TKO/KO loss) and i believe its in the best interest of his career to ease back into world title fights.

you dont really know if he'll fight the same again since he's lost the first time.

some fighters lose their confidence and are never as good as they once were...and sometimes its not the first loss but just A loss.

some fighters return to their usual selves (like Paulie Malignaggi after the cotto fight) and some never are as good again (so far thats true with judah).

we'll just have to see what taylor does.

im hoping he can make a great comeback.

      thats my opinion on this.

let pavlik fight a couple fights and fight a couple yourself and then ask for a rematch in the future and pavlik will most likely give it to you.

pavlik is a good guy...i doubt he'd ever turn a guy down to fight.

Damn, who is managing Taylor any ways?

The guy has a ****ty manager. A ****ty manager that can't even tell his own fighter that whether he wants to or not, he should take the Pavlike fight. Its a money fight. And its not like he can't adjust and win the rematch.

If Taylor is going to let this fight go then his heart is not in boxing. If he wants to get out of boxing take the rematch then leave. Let historians deal with where Taylor fits in boxing history.

yes he should get back with his old trainer because they had a good relationship and worked well with each other. manny and taylor have been nothing but an odd couple, they don't mix, you can tell by their chemistry in the corner. looking into the body language of taylor and other than this last fight, manny would lose his **** in the corner and would freak out, he didn't do too much in the pavlik fight, freaking out, because i think that they both know that people would be looking into how they're doing in their relationship. it just seems like the fun had been taken out of boxing for taylor when he changed trainers, he's done nothing but regress with manny training him..

i think taylor needs to get back to what is comfortable for him and have fun again like when he was coming up, you can see the change in his eyes and his facial expressions in his fights with steward.

i'll be the first and probably last to say that i have never been a fan of taylors, but i can tell you that it is obvious, loud and clear, that taylor needs to link back up with his old trainer because it isnt working out with manny steward, and i personally think that they won't ever work well with each other. they are two completely different minded people who i think work on completely opposite sides of the spectrum who aren't going to mesh well because of their inner core principals. some people just don't harmonize well or well enough to make their joint effort outcome a success, i.e. manny steward and jermain taylor.

There's a MONSTER risk in taking the rematch right away. If he gets knocked out again, he'll be headlining BAD cards for the rest of the year.
