That side-by-side comparison of past and present p4p fighters is very useful in assessing overall accomplishment, and I definitely would say that Floyd has accomplished more in 9 1/2 years than most. The only deciding factor for me is the rest of his career. Some fighters may get off to a slower start than others. Hopkins' pinnacle was with Tarver for instance, 15 years after he started fighting. Which is why Mayweather maybe needs to condense the quality of his competition if he's planning on retiring soon while also having a quintessential legacy, as opposed to a really great one.

But the point is that no matter how critical that we may be, Floyd's resume and level of opposition is comparable to the greats of this era. And in some instances better.
We all would like to see the best fighters facing nothing but the best guys. But the reality is that it RARELY happens. Jermain taylor's Hopkins/Hopkins/Winky run is rare.
Nobody thinks of Pavlik as a "ducker" or *****. But what fight is he going after? John Duddy.
Winky, Calzaghe, Hopkins, etc are all on the table. He is going for Duddy. Remind me who Duddy beat....
how many titles did benitez win by the age of 30. how many did duran win by the age of 30.
HOW MANY TIMES DOES FLOYD PLAN ON FIGHTING?I SAY ONE MORE TIME AFTER RICKY AND HE IS FINISHED.IT'S COTTO OR MOSLEY AND HE IS DONE.FLOYD[ONE OF MY FAVORITE FIGHTERS BY THE WAY]WON'T SEE ANYBODY WHO'S WORTH[HIS OWN INFLATED OR NOT] FIGHTING.

Oh yea, I definitely agree.. Mayweather is on a roll and has been for the past 10 years, and if he were to retire today, based on his resume alone he should be mentioned with some of the ATGs.. Top 20 most definitely, especially with a win over Hatton that adds to his resume. I've always been of the opinion that Floyd, along with B-Hop has the best resumes in boxing today, and probably of the past 10 - 20 years. You're also right that one can't be forced to expect a fighter to take on every tom, ****, and harry with a name, though with at least 2 or 3 more quality wins, I'd put Mayweather up there with almost anybody considering what he's been able to accomplish in such a short time.
Duran is and will always be the better fighter at any weight. In any mythical matchup, at any weight, Duran beats him down 7 times out of 10. That settles that.

How do you figure that?
Leonard beat him, when he stuck to the school of boxing and moving, didn't he? Duran beat Leonard when Leonard got ****** into a brawl, which Floyd has only done once (an all-out brawl anyway), and that was against DeMarcus Corley. He stick to better strategy now.
I don't know who would beat who X times out of 10, but I think the matter is not exactly settled.
If Mayweather can move up to 168, fight Andrade and beat the piss out of him.
Then, he'll be on Duran's level. And only then.
Weird, if I remember correctly, Duran didn't even have a monumental amount of accomplishment after he left 135. He was still great, but not the best at any of those divisions. He always lost his biggest fights after 135.
Regardless, accomplishments don't mean much in head-to-head fantasy matchups.
