In their primes both Castillo and Corrales were about as A class as A class gets.

In his prime Castillo had wins over a prime Casamayor, Juan Lazcano, and Julio Diaz. And some still believe he beat Floyd Mayweather Jr in their first fight.

In his prime Corrales had solid wins over a prime Castillo, a prime Casamayor and a prime and undefeated Acelino Freitas.

After they warred with each other I think it took a lot of of their respective skill levels and they ultimately became B class guys. But make no mistake about it, Corrales and Castillo in their primes were A class elite fighters.

Who has miguel Cotto beaten to be considered A class? I can see a case for De La Hoya and Mosley. But Cotto is not A class by any stretch of the term. Neither are other top welterweight guys today like Hatton, Cintron, Williams or Margarito.

Please don't really buy into anything this person typed. It's ****ing ******ed. Floyd had nowhere near an easy time with Castillo.
i guess u didnt see castillo mayweather II
chico and castillo = B CLASS all the way...
how do i come to that conclusion?
castillo's only significant wins were against stevie johnston and chico
and he lost to decisions to mayweather (2nd bout COMPLETELY outclassed)
chico, his are casamayor and castillo
THESE 2 GUYS HAVE NEVER FOUGHT "A" LEVEL COMPETITION AND BEAT THEM, WHEN THEY STEPPED UP TO TEAM MAYWEATHER (both of thier only attempts to fight a REAL SUPERSTAR)
THEY WERE DESTROYED, ANHILATED, NO QUESTIONS ASKED

Castillo also beat Joel Casamayor, Julio Diaz and a prime Juan Lazcano.

Chico also beat a prime and undefeated Aleino Freitas, and made him look horrible in doing so.

There's a difference between A class, and elite. And you seem to be making the comparison to Mayweather. IMO Corrales and Castillo were A class fighters, Mayweather is just simply above even that being elite.

            good point,
i was equating a class as elite
but u broke it down very well...u should spread that difference out more,
            1.the elite class
            2. a class
            3. b class
            ect etc

i respect your opinion you make some great posts it was wrong of me to include Cotto cause he has'nt been proven yet but IMO he will dispell any fears about that very soon ,even if he loses to Mosley i think he will still prove his credentials after that fight ,i suppose i should say he has the ability to prove he is that A Class fighter

i have thoguht about it more and while i dont want to discredit Castillo & Corrales i still cant put them A Class but i have deffo had a rethink and i think they deserve to be in B+ Class fighters ,i just dont see them going down as great light weights like Molsey ,Chavez

how do you see Castillo based on the 1st PBF fight or the 2nd

That's just the way I've always seen it in boxing. I rank the elite guys much farther above the A class guys because more often that not being elite also has something to do with an uncanny natural ability or highly athletic abilities. I.E.-Something you are born with.

A guy like Mayweather cannot be compared to any A class guy because his god given talents and merit will simply overshadow anything that A class dude could hope to attempt.

Castillo beat Floyd in the first fight in my humble opinion, and I'm not alone in making that assertion. However I also do realize that Mayweather was fighting with a ****ed up shoulder, and he let Castillo make him look bad. There's no doubt Mayweather avenged it in the rematch but those fights definitely elevate Jose's class quite a bit since Floyd has been on top for so long, and Castillo gave him all that he could handle.

there has to be a different bracket for Corrales Castillo to other greats like Mosley ,Dela Hoya ,Trinidad ,Julio Cesar Chavez these fighters for me operated on that other level that you mentioned
