Larry merchant is terrible

Larry merchant is one of the worst commentators i have ever heard. He constantly misspeaks and stutters over his words, he makes analogy's that are far fetched and don't make sense, he is constantly asking boxers questions that are hard to decipher than gets mad when they don't answer right, hes always making mistakes when it comes to "in the ring" disputes Ie Knockdowns/ slips, whether or not someone is hurt stuff like that. I think you guys all like him because you like boxing so much and you are so used to him that you associate him with boxing. Im not saying if you like Larry merchant you dont know boxing but you definitely don't know sports commentary.

Anybody who disrespects Larry merchant disrespects the sport of boxing. The man's voice is synonymous with boxing and he's certainly nowhere near as bad as Jim Lampley. A man who is not afraid to flaunt his loyalty to whoever HBO's hottest flagship is at the moment on air.

Don't get me wrong i love boxing and i love a HBO telecast as much as anyone i just think merchant is a terrible commentator. You guys are saying he is synonymous with boxing and thats exactly the reason i think you guys like him not cuz of his abilities, in any other sport he wouldnt have a job. Also i did read that thread which is what inspired me to writ this thread. Boxing fans are overwhelmingly partial to anything merchant does when in reality they are just used to him and associate him with great fights they have seen.

I dont have a problem with him, I liked that comment he made during the taylor pavlik fight where he said he had blood on his shirt so it must be a good fight lol

Larry Merchant knows his boxing. Merchant has probably forgot more fights than we have seen.

And even if you don't like Merchant. At least he's better than Kellerman.
