Why Mosley will beat Cotto

For me it comes down to this:
People talk on here as if Mosley has super exceptional power but besides knocking out Fatnando I havent seen it in a while. I know he's strong, he's fast and talented, conditioning is excellent but he's also another guy who is on the cusp of getting old and losing that elasticity that only youth can provide. Hopkins is an anomaly lets not put Shane there yet. So Shane will have to bring forth a performance reminiscient of DLH 1, with fierceness and desire to make Cotto go backwards and hurt Cotto at every opportunity. Its possible but not likely.
Cotto will have to be Cotto but a little better and smarter. He will be fighting a guy with speed close to that of Zab's but without the southpaw element. So he has to minimize his mistakes when coming into exchanges(reference to nasty uppercuts he was nailed with). He needs to make sure his Jab is working and just bring his usual relentless attack and pressure that justs makes opponents wilt.
People talk about Mosley's superior experience but I have to question that based on recent activity. What Im saying is Mosley hasnt fought top notch guys since Winky 2004. Cotto is the best opponent he will have faced since Winky and a totally different fight and style to deal. Im picking Cotto in this one to start taking over in the middle rounds and punish Shane to a stoppage by the ref or his dad Jack, but you cannot deny Mosley's abilities and he could bring it, put it all together and finally crack Cotto.Last edited by freedom213; 10-07-2007, 09:14 AM.Comment

See.. Now you're just talking like a fan for the most part.Ummm.. What?? Cotto can't take what he gives? so I take it you didn't see him fight Torres? true that the other 2 known times he was hurt was against Judah and Corley but Corley is no push over, he rocked the **** out of Mayweather, people made threads behind the way he rocked the best P4P fighter today, he did it when Floyd was younger, faster and since his opponents were lighter he hit harder, Corley did that to him so a guy with his experience is someone I expect to do that to Cotto, even still Cotto maneuvered and fought his way back into the **** Kelly Pavlik style, he adjusted and kept it pushing and yea Zab hurt him but he didn't overwhelm him, even if he did Cotto can take a good punch, against Torres Cotto was out on his feet, he was hurt to the point I just stood silent and Cotto took it, he took the same **** he gave and kept coming then mounts up enough balls to KO him, Torres was like 28-0, 26 KO's or something like that so he definitely hit Cotto with what Cotto be hitting people with accept he adjusted, everybody keep talking about Mosley's skills but people forget Cotto isn't a ****** fighter, if Judah would have ended up letting that straight right go Cotto would have done some **** to get past that too, he knows how to win above everything else.. and he certainly has a good enough beard to throw down with Shane.. Guaranteed. 100
Are you a fan of Cotto?
Or do you seriously think he can win?Comment

there's no 1 way to talk homie I don't know what's in your head but I'm going based off facts, I already done explained thoroughly in full why I feel Cotto would win, you quoted a post that was made in reference to something you said about Cotto not being able to take what he dishes out and I supported my reason for why I think he can, thats all. there's no instance or point in that post that I sound like just a fan homie, I'm not biased, I give every fighter respect even those whom I don't really like too much.. I respect Cotto I'm not no fan and yes I really do think he can win. 100Comment

Wowwww, are you serious?? I'd actually have it the other way around. Collazo is the underrated former champ here. Quintana UD's a prospect in Julio and gets taken out by a body shot from Cotto. I actually think Collazo would be tough work for Cotto because Collazo is tough and somewhat awkawrd with his off-balance south-paw style. Collazo just had the very unfortunate luck of going up against Hatton and then Mosley (that is one helluva duo to look bad against), but he stood up against all of them and went out on his feet against all of them.I'll say this and it's as clear as a sunny day. Collazo can't carry Quintana's jock. Collazo is perhaps one of the most overrated WW due to his close loss to Ricky. I guess having a close fight with Ricky will do that for you. Quintana's one of the most underrated WW due to his loss to Cotto. By now we all see the pattern, don't we? If you have some success against either Cotto or Hatton, you're the real deal, however, if you lose you ain't nothing. Remember folks, styles make fights and Mosley's style is right down Cotto's left hook valley.
Btw, have u guys seen Mosley's fights at WW with Estrada and Jose Luis Cruz?
These guys were slow mother ****ers who were finding Shane all night. Cotto looks like turboman compared to the last 3 guys Mosley has faced at WW.
I'll tell you this, I'll be able to know who will win between Cotto and Mosley within the second or third exchange of the fight. If Mosley will be able to back off Cotto with his flurries when Cotto lunges in, then he will win by UD or KO possibly. If Cotto is able to rummage his way in, land his body attack without much to fear and his chin holds up nicely, then he will win by KO most likely.Comment
