Great fighter, but took too many long layoffs during his best years, so no, not a hall of a famer, just misses the mark.

I really don't want to rummage around like Dios and pull out the stats on KT's whole career. Just check it yourself. "Too many long layoffs during prime" ?? I don't see that here.

Nah, he definitely was a fairly inactive fighter. I think he'll find his way into the HoF, deservedly or not. He suffered from a lack of competition during the years he was at top. Very solid fighter, not sure I could ever call him great. Things about him were great, but as a whole not so much.

Whole career of 34 fights in 13 years isn't a very impressive number.

I never got to see much of Tszyu, but I think he was a tremendious fighter.

Kostya Tszyu: First man in 30 years to consolidate the belts at 140.

              He's a shoe-in for HOF.

              End of argument.

My problem with inducting people into the HoF simply based on a record/belts means there are people like Ottke and others are allowed in. I'm never gonna' say Tszyu is a bad fighter or even not a good champion; but I question about HoF status sometimes... although I think it should be harder to get in in general; not just in Tszyu's case.

The better/more dominant fighters during "his era" were JCC , Pernell, Oscar, RJJ, Toney, BHop, MAB, Trinidad, Winky, Mayweather, ...

My personal opinion is that Tszyu, IN HIS PRIME, was a very good fighter. But probably a notch below HoF. One of the criteria that I use for HoF eligibility is that you had to have beaten another HoF-level guy, if possible.

                    Thoughts?

Is it ,, he didnt fight any superfights but won vacant tiles of contenders ,, just winning dont cut it in my book but hey thats just my opinion , there are fighters in the HOF that shouldnt be there so KT will probably get in , not if I were running it , you got to do something special in my view , lots of fighter have had undisputed titles , some by beating one guy , some by beating 2 or 3 elite fighters and everywhere in between ,, the point is when you are talking legacy its about who you beat and when you beat them not just that you won a belt , thats fine while you are fighting but not for legacy , thats when you look at your career as whole , again KT never had a superfight level fight, not saying he could not have won against the like off Mosley though I dont think KT could beat them anyway but its not about if or would have ,, fact is he never .
