The background of this joke is that the threadstarter used to post videos of himself shadowboxing in his yard. He had no formal training and tried all kinds of Roy Jones moves. You would have laughed your ass off. He made for the best times in BS history. They even made a wikipedia article about it.

on some real **** ***** my style is raw it may look kinda funny on tape but put another fighter in front of me people dont understand my skills have blossomed, i went from that backyard video to the toughman to when i get a hold of one of my fights you'll see, but i aint just talking **** im knockin it outta bitches liek you...

I didnt look at it as a race thing. I just liked Jermaine better,and at the time thought Pavlik was overrated.

Me too, but i had to play the race thing to it because most the white boys rooted for the ghost,, **** if pavlik was black id still root for jermaine...

I see nothing wrong with rooting for your race and it does`nt make you a racist if you do so.

Yea, but your thread is inquiring on whether or not Blacks feel let down, as if Jermaine were fighting for us instead of himself or his family. I seriously doubt that Pavlik was fighting for whites and that Taylor was fighting for blacks, so anyone making that connection, it is due to their own political hang-ups and has nothing to do with the sport of boxing..

Kelly was doing the same his people are white... now whether or not subconciously the fighter takes this into consideration is beyond me however i do know, that the majority of blacks where rooting for taylor and the majority of white where most like rooting for Pavlik!

I was let down i put all my reasoning and heart into a victory for Jermaine and he looked like he was going to fulfill the pick but, ultimatly let a guy who said experience was going to be the difference from the amateurs to yesterday and he was right. JT really let me down and being a guy who tends to favor the 0 in record it will be hard to root for him any more!

This is your problem. Just because Taylor's family and friends may be in the main, of African descent has nothing to do with his motivations. If Jermaine has one white friend, then this automatically renders your argument invalid. Same as applied to Pavlik, but viceversa. What ultimately makes it invalid is that it is highly unlikely that this is the mode of thinking by which most boxers go by in preparation for a fight. "Race" is simply an after thought and you apply your own categorization system based on an arbitrary, social taxonomy of "black and white", that is totally out of context to these fighters and sane boxing fans
