[QUOTE=FightNight 2007;2696396]LOL @ Merchant's ****** ass insisting that Pavlik is blocking shots when his face can tell you otherwise...TAYLOR was the one blocking shots.

Pavlik was gettin his ass whooped by a new and improved Taylor and he got a lucky stoppage...I smell corruption or ******ity on Smoger's part.QUOTE]

So..in other words... you are REALLY delusional??? And are spitting up very sour g****s?

Taylor was definitly ahead, but the stoppage was far from lucky.
Pavlik was nailing Taylor with that jab all round throughout Round 7 and starting to take over.
The stoppage seemed lucky because the fight was competitive and then over 10 seconds later, but Pavlik put on a great performance and finished well.

I can see 3-3 or 4-2 for Taylor. I cant see Pavlik being up, but I wasn't watching with intent to score, I was too into the fight.

It was a close fight. I had the fight even until the knockout.

Even Jermain Taylor thought he was losing the fight in the 7th.

GET OVER IT, GENTS!!!! Sounds like sour g****s to me.

To use compubox totals to score a fight, you really have to look at punch totals per round.

I'd say that Taylor threw a bulk of his punches in the 2nd and 5th rounds. Does anyone have the compubox totals by round for 1, 3,4, & 6 ?

I'd say that Pavlik won those rounds. Even if the punch totals were close, Pavlik was the agressor and dictating the fight in those rounds. Taylor was counterpunching and eating stiff left jabs.

That's why I believe that Pavlik was winning 57-56 going into the 7th round.

But... I can totally see how someone could score the fight with JT winning by a narrow margin. Champ gets the nod in close rounds in these types of fights.

Whoever started this thread is smoking something...

Did Pavlik win a round? Yeah... Which? Well, how about round one for starters. Emmanual Steward after round one: "He won that round." Punch stats in round 1: Pavlik 43 of 89. Taylor 26 out of 72. Pavlik controlled the round with his jab and straight right as he did several other rounds.

And Taylor got indisputably knocked out in the 7th. Any claim of premature stoppage is just further proof of hitting the pipe.

WoW! How anyone could have legimately given Taylor more than 2-3 rounds astounds me!! Granted the HBO owned judges had taylor ahead but no one else did!! Even Taylor and his handlers admited they thought Taylor was losing. I'm not a Taylor fan, I always thought he was a protected fighter who, while good was not the Super Fighter HBO and the media made him out to be! As I said many times before he was the result of careful cherry picking fighters whose styles and size gave him an advantage. I was fairly confident Pavlik would beat Taylor and he did, if it wasn't for Pavlik getting macho in the 2nd round and shouting at Taylor with his hands down I think he would have stopped Taylor sooner. Taylors a decent fighter but he's no Marvin Hagler or Carlos Monzon.
