Pavlik made adjustments during the fight and taylor didnt.... taylor's technique was off.... taylor trained to counter pavliks jab... and even though taylor was faster and more athletic...he had alot less technique... pavlik during the middle rounds started blocking taylors right and was rolling on it... and even though taylor is faster pavlik was out jabbing taylor... taylor needs to make adjustments for the rematch... i was more surprised that pavlik got knocked down in the fight than taylor losing.....
starjammer explain? he caught pavik with a good shot. what I was was pavlik taking it to taylor the whole fight, jabbing, backing him up and outboxing him. blocking most of taylor shots. and its a JOKE when merchant says the judges had taylor winning boxing obviously wants this man to be the face of the sport.
Taylor WAS winning on points. I had him 4 rounds up when the fight was stopped. He came ahead, had great pace, and was very conscious of the rope trap, since he sucks fighting off the rope, he'd jab his way out of the trap and take it to the centre. He was caught by a great punch.
I was impartial in this fight, tho i do admit, i feel so sad for taylor...and when it was over i felt dizzy like id just taken the shot myself.
I been saying on this board for the longest that Taylor's chin would eventually get exposed, I knew he had a bad chin when he got rocked by BHop and Winky neither of who's power is great, and Dibella couldn't always bail him out with gift decisions, I am in no way a JT hater, but I couldn't stand the fact that he acted like he was out there beatin ass when most of his victories where suspect, anyway there is now a true champion at MW and he looks like he is the real deal and will hold down the division for the next couple of yrs.
I was shocked. After the second round I just thought it was a matter of time before Pavlik was knocked out. I'm really let down by Taylor. I really think he could have got up. I think he just didnt have the heart. He didnt really seem too out of it, he was just staring at the canvas like he didnt know what happened.
Props to Taylor though, he came to fight and was winning on my cards. Just got caught with one too many in a row there in the 7th. Had he put more control on his punches in round 2 I think that would have been it.
Is Taylor finished? I don't normally like this sort of question and I certainly don't think that a loss, even by knockout, means the end for a fighter. But Taylor never made any bones about it, he's fighting for the money. Now he has the money is he done? He certainly didn't show the heart to try and stand up...
hard to stand up when you've just been busted up by the bigger puncher in your division, knowing the fight has been stopped, and having a referee holding you down while you're hurt
