I agree, Floyd is extremely insecure and he knows that he is a boring fighter and boxing fans(like myself) don't appreciate his boring hit and run style. If Floyd goes toe to toe with Hatton and beats him I will have new found respect for him, but that will never happen. There is evidence of his mental breakdown in his interview with Larry Merchant after the most boring fight of the century with Carlos Baldomir.

      Absolutely.

Here stands the greatest fighter on this planet; and he has to describe to the world how his mother loves him and tells him nice things. Repeatedly.

      A man.

It may sound like a standard put down archetype.. A below the belt shot.

But it's just the plain old truth.

I tend to think more in line in what his grandmother said in the 24/7 , Floyd never had a childhood and now he is , I dont think he is breaking down I think that might happen if he goes too far and ends up getting beat and his ego battered , but inside he is a champion first , if he doesnt loose touch of the work required to stay on top he will be fine , untill then he is thriving on the attention and fame and all the good things he has just like many other famous young people that live to extreme with the world at thier feet , great while it lasts , he may self destruct he may not , I dont see it just yet .

Mayweather has two problems in my view:

          #1 He's thin skinned.

#2 He has a need to be liked.

Can't be one or both of those things and have this "Money Mayweather" alter ego without paying the price of admission.

I disagree fully.. Floyd has only been getting stronger mentally these past two years and it's evident because whoever is put in front of him he can take them out in a smart way, he cen break them down MENTALLY and dig deep beneath his "thin skin" to get out of tight spots and win, this guy goes up to junior middleweight a fight's Oscar De La Hoya, puts on the most weight he's ever had on his whole career speed being his biggest advantage in any fight and risking his speed with his weight change, relied purely on skills and out boxed Oscar worse than damn near anyone else besides Felix Sturm, however I wll say Oscar wasn't in shape for that fight and he WAS in the Mayweather fight making it a whole different ball game..

this was his last fight and you guys mean to tell me he's been breaking down mentally? he's not just some lucky guy who stumbled across a million dollars and is now a money maniac Floyd been getting money, Floyd been enjoying his life and whatever child hood issues he has or may have had are clearly behind him. he said what he said about his mother because SHE'S his motivation not any one of you, including myself. she tell's him keep doing what you doing and thats all that matters to him and thats all that should because once he losses ya gonna Zab Judah him, if anything he's gotten stronger mentally. of course you guys want to see him go toe to toe against Hatton because you want to have a reason to do a back flip while you drinking your beer but what you think Floyd is ******? thats not the way to win against Hatton and you actually WANT him to go that route? thats ****ing ridiculous.. 100

I agree. Mayweather has kept his troubles outside the ropes.

              So far.

I think if anything Mayweather's been getting stronger mentally.

He's always been thinskinned and a craver of approval. But he hasn't carried any of it to the ring with him. How this is relavant or seperates Floyd from any other boxer or for that matter millions of people who are the same way I don't see. Because he flipped off a bunch of people in the UK that hate him anyway?

what troubles? what are you talking about? I'm seriously confused yo I don't see no kind of troubles accept the ones that you and everyone else here has been talking about, where's the mental breakdown that this thread was created based on? he only gets better and better and he's enjoying his life, he's doing a lot for boxing right now in terms of drawing people to the sport so I don't see what ya talking about, no diss or nothing I just don't get it.. 100

He has got all the money in the world so has got fewer problems than most imo. Everyone has got some kind of emotional problems to be dealing with though.
