    Why Tszyu was King

    Kostya Tszyu [31-2, 25 KOs]

    IBF Lt Welt Wt Champ. Jan. 95-May 97;
    WBC Lt Welt Wt Champ. Aug. 99-Jan. 04;
    WBA Lt Welt Wt Champ. Feb. 01-May 04;2.
    IBF Lt Welt Wt Champ. Nov. 01-June 05.

    Only loss during reign: Vince Phillips 1997 in Ring Mag's "Upset of the Year."
    Loss to end reign: Ricky Hatton 2005.

    During his career, Tszyu defeated the following, among others:

    1. Vernon Forrest - 91 World Amatuer Championships, UD.
    2. Hugo Pineda - 27-0, TKO 11th r.
    3. Jan Bergman - 32-0, KO 6th r.
    4. Rafael Ruelas - 52-3, TKO 9th r.
    5. Corey Johnson - KO 4th r.
    6. Roger Mayweather - UD.
    7. Angel Hernandez - TKO 7th r.
    8. Livingstone Bramble - UD.
    9. Hector Lopez UD.
    10. Oktay Urkel - 28-0, UD.
    11. Julio Ceasar Chavez - 103-4-2, TKO 6th r.
    12. Zab Judah - 27-0, KO 12th r.
    13. Jesse J. Leija - TKO 6th r.
    14. Sharmba Mitchell - TKO twice, 3rd and 7th rds.

    Why didn't Tszyu ever fight Floyd, Oscar, or Mosely? They didn't want anything to do with Tszyu. Way too dangerous to mess with.

    I just watched Mayweather-Gatti... and by that time Hatton had already beaten Tszyu. Mayweather-Tszyu really might have come off had that loss not happened. Mayweather wanted to become a PPV star first though, which is why he fought the fighter with the best popularity to talent ratio... meaning he would get to put on a hell of a show in his first PPV appearance. Who knows what his plans were after the Gatti fight?

      Floyd was going to face Zoo if he had beaten Hatton, we all know how that turned out though.

        11. Julio Ceasar Chavez - 103-4-2, TKO 6th r. ONE FOOT IN THE GRAVE

        Settle down.
        After his loss to Phillips the DLH fight was off and Tszyu had along lay off. Mosley called Tsyzu out after the Zab fight, but he wouldn't move up and fight Mosley like he said he would.

        Tsyzu was mostly inactive when Floyd was in his division.

        I think all these fighters would have given Tszyu big problems.

        You didn't even list one of his most impressive win over Miguel Gonzalez.

                I concur it would have been a good win on his resume even though I would say Zoo was 35 when he faced Floyd. However he would have just finished beating a prime undefeated Hatton so.......I am thinking into this to much.

                  Settle down. Tszyu did not have a long lay off after the Phillips fight. And please explain how Tszyu was "mostly inactive" when Floyd was in his division.
                  Furthermore, Tszyu never planned to move up. He always said he would fight anybody in the LWW division.

                    But, of course now everybody says Floyd was "planning" on fighting Tszyu. You put stock in that?
