Here is what I posted on the other board on MAY 13th

At 34/35, you NEVER KNOW what fighter is gonna show up. That is why my ex[pectations are extremely low for Castillo. Guys do get old overnight.

Shane looked pretty sharp in his last fight. But he is 35. It is possible that he shows up for his next scrap looking great in the body, but his timing and speed and reflexes have slipped.

In nearly every sport, you get the guy who, for example, hit 38 homers at 35 yo, and the next year he hits 27. Or averaged 26 points, and then dips to 19.

And smaller fighters age more quickly. Name all of the lightweights who were effective at 35/36 years old.

And on may 12th, I posted this:

Isn't he a 34 year old lightweight who has had major struggles with weight?

That is what I am holding against him.

Yes. At this stage and this level of inactivity, Castillo is B-level.
What was the whole point of this thread? Sounds like some lame ego trip to me. Save it, man.

You see that's just the thing. You are commenting on what Manny said. Manny claiming that Mexican fighters don't get KOed by body shots is just plain ******. Hey, Manny, just watch a few telefutura fights, happens all the time.

manny is a great boxing mind but he is a little off and wacky on some of the stuff he says. Lately I have been watching boxing where he totally bigs up one of the fighters only to see the fighter get dominated. He is getting older in years, you can tell that. Plus, he is a little partial in some situations. Not saying he was in this one, but just saying.

            Shot? no
            Past it? yes.

Castillo-Corrales was the beginning of the end for both fighters involved.

Agreed. Castillo is and has always been an extremely DURABLE fighter. The way Hatton took him out was legendary, IMO.

That bodyshot is something Ricky is entitled to brag about with his grandgrandsons

I didn't see these HBO experts complain about the KD denied Hatton in the opening round. They should start to complain about their own commentary though. Claiming Castillo is shot is extreme and wrong. He does have some wear, true, but Hatton was just too fast of reflex and attack and was stronger than he's used to. Castillo landed some good stuff on Hatton, but just got outpunched in the trenches because he's likely never seen anyone fight that close with the kind of strength and reflexes Hatton has.

I mean, really, when has Castillo ever, EVER started early? He always usually warms up around the 4th round. And it just so happens he got knocked out in the 4th.
Agree with Azteca once again. Castillo wasn't "shot", but the progaganda of the Mayweatherites really goes deeper, Azteca. They're really claiming that he layed down to Hatton. AND, that is IMO 100% BS. Castillo never laid down to anybody and was/is one of the toughest, gamest fighters I have ever seen. Hatton's victory over Castillo was icing on the cake Tszyu built. It was brutal.

Castillo was a bit past it, but Hatton is leagues above even a prime Castillo, so this is all irrelevant. It's like saying Gatti was shot when Floyd beat him. That's true, but insignificant, b/c the result couldn't have been much different at an earlier time.
