Good post, Addison. I'm starting to look foward to your insight on things..

Hatton is relentless, more so than any fighter I've seen lately.
This silent confidence he has is bothering Mayweather, me thinks.
Ricky is madly determined when he needs to be, and he's not in that ring to play with anybody. He's just there to hurt the other guy, I like that.

Skillwise, it's not much of a contest. But **** the noble art of self-defence;
Sometimes the best defence is all out offence.

While I expect Mayweather to win, I really do believe Hatton has a great shot at upsetting Floyd.

People say Mayweather has great defence, incredible skill and smarts.
People are right.

People say Hatton is one-dimensional. People say Floyd will run rings around Hatton. People say Hatton won't be able to hit Floyd with the left hook to the body.
People say it will be an easy fight for Floyd.
If a million people say a foolish thing, it is still foolish...

My thoughts on Hatton;

-Fast and good legs, easily better than Castillo at closing the distance and cut off the ring.
-Reasonably fast hands, although not in Floyd's league, the speed is good.
-Strong jab, which he uses both before and after a combination, making him rather difficult to read as you have to cover up for that jab.
-Strong physically and mentally, able to keep a ferocious amount of pressure at all times, being rough and tough on the inside while having the stamina to keep it up for the full 12 rounds.
-No bull**** attitude, no flashy ****, just tried and proven all out aggressiveness.
-Determination right out of hell.

Mayweather is supposed to win this fight, at least in most people's view. He's the better technically skilled fighter and the bigger man.

But skills are just one part of the equation. Mayweathers high chin is another...

Right on the money. Top notch. ^

Your feeling that Mayweather can keep him honest is a very pedestrian by the numbers view of how things could play out..

Don't think I'm dismissing Mayweather's POTENTIAL.


Hatton is a man with nothing to lose. He's expecting to get laser targeted.

He'll be coming through those punches because he has NO CHOICE.

And he ****ing knows it!

It's either that or sit there and get picked off.


Hatton is a SPECIALIST. He knows how to worm his way in there.

He's one of the BEST IN THE WORLD at doing what I've described..

Keep that in mind.

Without that there is no equation with Hatton winning.

I really appreciate all of the maturity that you gentleman have displayed regarding this topic.

While I am Mayweather all day, the perspective rendered has been enlightening and refreshing. I definitely have always viewed Hatton as a formidable opponent but maybe not to the extent which he deserves. I guess I just do not feel his skills are superlative and capable of diffusing a prime Mayweather.
