he has a GREAT one-two which is EXPTREMELY effective against PAVLIK when he fights flatfooted.

But if Pavlik fights a little on his toes with some movement like he's saying he will, and nullifys the jab with overwhelming punch outputs, then Taylor is gonna look hopeless in there.

This is all about who can pull of their gameplan more effectively, and considering the balls it took for Pavlik to slug it out with Miranda, im gonna guess and say hes gonna be that guy

Isn't that what all fights are about, who imposes their gameplan, their pace, and their will. Whoever is more successful at that will win this fight. 3 rounds is pretty harsh I will give Jermain the UD, since Pavlik has a good chin on him. Jermain seems to gas out late so I don't see him getting a late stoppage.

I don't expect taylor to lose this fight. I mean the man fought and didn't lose against 4 former champions. Two of them which had not been defeated or dominated in years by the time they fought taylor. Yeah pavlik has a puncher's chance but that means little when facing a slicker and more skilled boxer. If some of think that pavlik will donminate taylor like he did miranda you know nothing about boxing. I see the fight going no further than the 8th round.

HBO's attempt to hype Taylor is kinda laughable. They dont have any full fights of his to show because there's none they have that he looks great in so on their highlight reel they show him knocking out the first guy he ever faced, Eduard the last guy he stopped, and somebody else. Then a couple sloppy fluries against Hopkins and Wright.

I'm saying this right now. Kelly is going to kill this idiot. Pavlik's going going to impose the type of fight he wants on Taylor and that is the most important thing. Ok, in that scenario you got a guy Taylor who cant get the better of the exchanges or hurt guys like Ouma and Wright, and who hasn't stopped an opponent since Eduard.

I'm sorry but I just can't except "great fighter" and Kelly Pavlik in the same sentence. He's a good fighter at best but phenominally overrated for his performance against a drained and deplinshed Edison Miranda who struggled a great deal to make weight. I know, there's no excuses in boxing, blah, blah, blah. You're the same guys though that make plenty of excuses for your own mistakes in life so try not playing the hypocrite role for once guys.

For a fighter like Jermain Taylor, Pavlik's style is Taylor made (Pun intended). He comes forward with very little foot work, slow as molasses, no head movement, mediocre defense, predictable and staright up and down with no special effects. As Emanuel Stewart stated Kelly is asleep in 3.

Lmao at "no special effects" because you stole that from Floyd. Pavlik throws every punch in the book in every conceivable combination. He';s not "straight up and down," although that would be fine 'cause some of the greatest fighters ever were like that. That';s how he fought Miranda b/c it was the appropriate style for that fight.

I think Taylor has an edge in this fight, but Pavlik is not being exposed. Stweard is likely trying to get at Kelly's confidence. Steward would love to have Pavlik, he's perfect for Steward's style.

The fight will be a good one. Taylor will use his jab, but that will give Kelly openings for his right hand over the top or right uppercut through the middle. How will Jermain like being hit like that? That we don't know yet.

I'm hoping that Pavilik times some good counter punches to Taylor's jab, Taylor gets a little frustrated and slugs it out for a while, both demonstrating a good chin and lots of heart. Then they tactically try to establish control, the fight swaying, and it comes down to a close decision. Even a loss in this fashion would look better for Taylor than a blowout either way.

People are acting like Pavlik isn't hyped up. Miranda's team was willing to pay money during the weigh in so Edison could fight at 161, he damn near killed himself to make the weight. Someone is going to be exposed for not being as good as they are hyped up to be and in 9 days(the fight probably won't start until teh 30th), the truth will come out.

Let's talk about hype. Such as referring to the Taylor-Cintron sparring as looking like Leonard-Hearns. I don't doubt it did, but what does that have to do with Taylor-Pavlik? The answer is "nothing".

We can all agree that "styles makes fights". On Saturday, it'll be Taylor's style against Pavlik's, not against Cintron's. So, all we get there is another form of hype.

Let's remember something about Cintron, who we're told gave Taylor a good work out. He was totally out-gunned and beat down by a supposedly second-tier fighter, namely Margarito. Then there's Taylor, who went 12 ugly rounds with feather-fisted Spinks. How did this happen to two guys who we're told sparred like Hearns-Leonard? Simple, they were two skilled boxers fighting in response to their level of opposition.

On Saturday, Taylor will again fight according to the man standing in front of him. He won't look the way he did in sparring Cintron, because Pavlik will be in front of him, and he won't be able to absorb the shots Spinks landed because it will be heavy-handed Pavlik standing in front of him.

Also, it seems ironic that both Stewart (who I have the highest respect for) and Taylor are calling Pavlik a "hyped" fighter, when it's Taylor who's given us very little to get excited about as Champ. If Taylor does anything other than walk straight through the "hyped" Pavlik, then he can start wearing that moniker himself right away, whether he wins or looses.

Exactly. I posted this before so I guess I'll have to do it again. Pavlik has fought stronger opposition pre-title shot than Taylor did. All Taylor fought was an old Joppy and a smaller Raul Marquez and his last KO was against Daniel Edouard who has two draws with Dorian Beaupierre. Pavlik starched Beaupierre in two. Ross Thompson had fought Lacy and won rounds against him. Don't say Lacy was overrated his amateur record was 209-12. Lacy will kick ass again once he's healthy. Pavlik won a shutout against Thompson on 2 of the 3 cards. McKart you could compare to Joppy an older veteran past it but also fought Zuniga who nows owns a fringe belt a 168 and Zertuche who was on the Mexican olympic team and when your on that team you know the guy is tough as hell. Pavlik has also done something Taylor STILL hasn't done and that's face a puncher. So I don't see how people can say their chins are equal or Taylor's is better.
