The truth in it is that many people in society at large or maybe the mainstream press are quick to jump all over the flaws/ ****** actions of sucessful black athletes for things that they might let slide for white athletes. I don't think anyone denies that there are still racist people out there, and if some non-racist people are honest with themselves they might realize that they have some stereotypes that impact their thinking/ actions in ways they don't always recognize.
I'm not saying thats the case with this author or any posters here in particular. Floyd gives people so much ammo... partly (I think.. and he's basically said as much) because he understands how much he gets under peoples skin and realizes that people paying to see him lose are still paying. So he plays up the image to the extreme... although who's to say when it stops being an image.
Anyway, when people react so strongly you kind of have to wonder why they care, to the point of being emotional, about someone they never met and who has no real impact on their lives. Especially when the reaction is inconsistent. I've never heard anyone going on about what an ****** pm is even though you guys say he's gotten out of line.
Since we're on the subject, look at the reaction to Michael Vick. I think what he did was disgusting and i have no respect for him, but I feel the same way about people who hunt deer for sport. Why is it that everyone is outraged about dogs being killed for entertainment yet thousands of people go out to kill deer and birds and whatever and thats fine? Would people have reacted the same if it was Peyton Manning involved in dogfighting? I honestly don't think they would have. [This topic has probably been done to death here and i'm not trying to go off on a tangent, just thought it was a good example]
These people ar`ent ******.they know why they bash him,There just trying to hide it. Thats why instead of debating me they resort to insults.Comment

I love the way you think that Floyd drew thew numbers for the Oscar fight, had Oscar's name not been on that card it wouldn't have done nearly as much. Oscar was the draw and Hatton has more fans willing to fly over an Ocean to watch him here thatn Floyd has Americans willing to watch him fight. So what if he's on dancing with the satrs, so was Joey Fatone, thats a real accomplishment. This writer is hilarious. Alleged, reportedly, purportedly... C'mon anyone can accuse another of something. Its funny that all these people are still hating on this man even after he goes out and breaks records with DLH, then sells out in 1/2 and hour with Hatton. He's on Dancing with the Stars, he's all over these forums, and his name is always brought up when people are talking about boxing. Love him or hate him, whatever he's doing is working. Now we just wait and see what bull**** they come up with after he whips Hatton.Comment

First, are you ******ed?I hope Pavlik destroys Jermaine also because i can`t stand his trainer.
He is the biggest uncle tom house negro sellout yes massa no massa
in the history of uncle toming negro sellouting yess massa-ing no massa-ing.
This gorilla was uncle toming all through out The Oscar/Mayweather fight
and also He talk bad about jack johnson the first black heavyweight campion.
To make a long story short.Every time Jack Johnson beat a white boxer, many Whites would go lynch many black folks cause they did`nt like the fact that a black person beat a white person.Emanuel the gorilla steward in an interview on *********.com acted like it was jack johnson fault that those blacks was getting lynched.
Then Emmanuel the gorrila Steward went on to praise Joe Loius for being
humble and being the antithesis of Jack Johnson.
I Hope Cintron and Jermaine get their ass kicked so Emmanuel the Goriila steward could look bad so the critics could tear him up.
Second, is there is something wrong with respecting humbleness and humility in a person? I think jack johnson was a great fighter, but certainly not a very humble person. It has nothing to do with being black or white. paul malignaggi acts like a ****, and it's obnoxious. black, white, hispanic, asian, whatever, there is never anything wrong with acting like a decent human being. An african-american man being a decent human being doesnt mean being an "uncle tom" either.Comment

ATTENTION BARLOG, this is an insightful argument. Read it over and over again. You seem to just want to rile people up, not make them think about what you have to say. If you truly want things to get better, start by being someone who people will listen to and respect (please see Dr. Martin Luther King and Malcom X). I have been fighting my whole life for equality for all people and people like you only set up more road blocks. The truth in it is that many people in society at large or maybe the mainstream press are quick to jump all over the flaws/ ****** actions of sucessful black athletes for things that they might let slide for white athletes. In response to the post above, I agree that reaction to black athletes can sometimes be more severe than to white athletes and that is ashame, but to compare what Michael Vick did to hunters is a stretch. Michael Vick had abused and terrified dogs in order to get them to fight each other so people could bet, then when a dog lost he killed the dogs in a de****able manner. Hunting, for food that is, on the other hand, is an interesting topic. I use to feel the way that you do about hunting, but then i became a vegetarian and started to read about hunting. An animal killed by a hunter is much more humanely treated and killed than an animal that is killed on a factory farm (which most animals that we buy at the supermarket are). That being said, hunting purely for sport could be compared with Michael Vick.Comment

One that springs to mind straight away is Cristiano Ronaldo, outside of trash talking teens and fans of Man United and Portugal he is universally despised. A boxing example is Jack Dempsey. Although he is revered now, he was vilified in his prime for being a draft dodger. Ray Robinson was always considered the good guy in his battles with white guy Jake LaMotta.flaming aside here, can someone name some ****y white athletes who were hated on for that type of stuff? There was that pitcher in NY who got in some trouble... I think that was for racist comments though so thats a little different.
I'm not asking rhetorically to make a point. I can't really think of any but I'm not a big sports history guy. There have to have been top tier white athletes who talked trash and acted like d******s right?
Regarding Jack Johnson, his brash and in-your-face style may have been sticking it to the man but it was exactly what the Civil Rights movement didn't need. His antics exacerbated conditions for regular black Americans, and it took Joe Louis's calm and humble manner (with a bit of help from the Second World War) to show America that Black athletes were acceptable.
Nowadays there are considerably more successful black athletes than there are black athletes who fall from grace. Suggesting that the [white] establishment keeps black athletes from being successful by scandalising them simply doesn't stand up to scrutiny.
Malignaggi simply isn't important enough to get the attention that Mayweather does. Mayweather is a five weight champion, poind for pound best boxer in the world and a first ballot hall of famer, who recently was a part of the biggest PPV fight in history. Malignaggi is most famous for losing to Miguel Cotto. In many ways the criticism that Floyd gets is a compliment to his status in the sport. What your saying seems to support barlog's ideas about a double standard. If PM is an ****** it doesn't seem to get much attention. He may not be as over the top as floyd is though...Comment
