Mayweather vs Hatton the variables.
yeah there are a lot of different aspects to this fight.
who can get who's style working the most effectively. (Mayweather's pot shotting and or overall boxing vs Hatton's pressure)
but saying Hatton has to have the best fight of his life to win is both a true statement .. yet at the same time a gigantic hypothetical
hell every prediction right now is a hypothetical
but what would Mayweather see in Hatton that makes him want to take this fight? Hatton is 5'6 and has a short reach (65) and outside of the constant pressure has zero other options in winning this fight ... while talented and skilled .. Hatton is a one trick pony (**honestly if the pressure fighting doesn't work, and Hatton is countered hard ... I don't care how determined you are) I'll get to this point more below
cuz if Floyd can constantly counter Hatton .. he not only will be doing damage but killing Ricky's confidence.
cuz face it ** everytime Hatton has been hit hard .. he could keep going and build offa momentum cuz he was winning the fight ... consider this . Kostya hit Hatton hard, Castillo landed hell even Collazo had moments .. but who's pace were the above fighters fighting at? Ricky has set the pace, dictated the action .. so even if he gets hit hard, it doesn't matter, because he is still for the most part controlling the ring and winning the rounds
the fact that Hatton might have a style to crack PBF is a factor.. but a 5'6 fighter with below average defense and a knack for his face getting busted up ... could play right into Floyd's hands.Last edited by MJ406; 09-16-2007, 06:25 PM.Comment

i think about 85% of the time floyd throws a 6. his flush combination shots i'd call a 7. and a flush power punch from floyd i'd imagine would be an 8.
i agree that baldomir was probably the only guy who could walk through floyd shots all night long. but baldomir has an absolutely world class chin. before the ODLH fight i always pictured oscar doing the same thing as baldomir but floyd clearly stunned oscar several times.Comment

Maybe a little more clarification in general would be good..
This post is a bit more schizophranic.Comment

I gave him a 7, when he sits down on his punches he can hit with decent power. What makes him so effective is that he is efficient and precise and lands quick snaping shots.Comment

It's clear and evident that over 140 Mayweather does not look to land one big punch or even a powerful combination, yet he lands 6's and 7's for 12 consistant rounds and those type of almost KO punches over twelve rounds TKO most opponents that don't have a good chin or a skilled defence.Comment

and as for the other **** in basic english.... taking punishment has never really been a problem for Ricky because he was winning the fights. when your winning chances are you can build off that (well who knows cuz its mental)
but you somewhat get that? cuz your saying Ricky will be so amped and just walk through what ever Floyd throws. part of that is because he has a strong chin and another part would be his midset.
but take these examples.
vs Kostya and vs Castillo .. who was showing more ring generalship?
sure Ricky was geting hit in both bouts ... but the above fighters were fighting at Ricky Hatton's pace.
if Floyd can be countering Ricky with pot shots... and not get ****** into getting held and hit I wonder how Hatton will respond.
granted Floyd probably won't be ripping 6 or 7 punch combinations .. but if he can land, and dictate the pace that could be a key.
hell who ever fights their fight more effectively will probably win so it goes both ways.Comment
