A 6 in my opinion. He's not weak but he's not no ko master at 147. If he was at a lighter weight class, I would rate him a high 8 or 9. 147 pounds is not good for him, it's the wrong weight class for him completely.

For anyone picking Mayweather over Hatton I think it's a question worth asking yourself. How strong is your man? How hard can he hit?

Floyd has the quickness and accuracy to score on an incoming Hatton - but does he have the power to really keep Ricky honest?

Particularly if you're picking Mayweather by KO..

Kostya Tszyu was unable to fend of Hatton with his power - but I believe Mayweather will be more effective at close range and in transition than Kostya could ever be. Hard punching combined with quick and effective infighting is the only thing that will keep Hatton in check (if anything).

I envision many exchanges where Mayweather is able to hit Hatton clean once or twice and get out - but the majority of the time Floyd is going to get trapped.

Mayweather has a tendency to stop punching at times..

Hatton will have his opportunity's.. Plenty.

Something else; Floyd is not going to have one bit of mental edge when they get in that ring. Hatton is expecting to get hit, and he's expecting to get behind. Ricky Hatton is going to keep coming ALL night long.

Mayweather better jump on Hatton if he wants any chance of winning.

Because Hatton is going to beat him to it if he's given the opportunity.

I had to put Floyd at 7 because when he loads up and he see's his spot I believe the guy can deliver a fairly hard shot at 147+.. Maybe even an 8 at his maximum. Floyd can't drop consistant 8's - but I figure he can put a good one on somebody at key points in a fight and that has kept him where he's at today as #1.

He was able to keep De La Hoya honest, and he did in fact buckle Oscar's knees on one particular punch as DLH was coming in.

Primarliy, he kept the bigger guy honest. De La Hoya backed off when Mayweather started busting him with the right hands. Oscar felt those shots.

This is all speculative. How can any of you rate his power if you've never been the ring with him? What does DLH, Judah, Baldy, and Mitchell say about his power?

            It's highly speculative.

But then again so is about 98% of what goes on in this forum.

What we do know is who he has knocked out and how opponents have reacted to his punches. That puts us some-of-the-way there.

with that said i have floyd at 6 maybe 7 at the highest

                one question
how would you rate hatton's chin??
i think oscar has a better chin than hatton
and floyd was able to rock oscar in their fight
so i think there is a chance for floyd to ko hatton
especially since oscar's defense is better than hatton's
and hatton will be getting hit more often with clean punches
                your thoughts?

Right, I was the leaving the door open for that.

There is a distinct possibility Hatton knocks himself out on the end of one of Mayweather's punches. Ricky could see Kostya's extended shots and didn't have to worry as much about the short compact ones. Mayweather showed us all against De La Hoya he can deliver a heavy short shot with his back on the ropes. De La Hoya's whole body dipped. Pride and a good chin kept him up. But I think Mayweather almost dropped him.
