In this explosive interview, Floyd Mayweather Sr. is raw and uncut as he blasts WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson for his recent comments regarding his training techniques.
PC: Chad Dawson recently said in an interview that you had a nasty attitude and no fighter wants their trainer telling them that they're going to get knocked out. What do you have to say in response to those comments?
FM: Well, first of all, you got a lot of trainers that's going to be straight up with their fighters and they aint going to talk no bull****. I'm not the trainer to tell a mother****er what he wants to hear. I'm not that kind of trainer. I'm not going to tell you you doing good when you getting your effing head tore off. One day, Andre Dirrell was beating his goddamn ass so bad man, I felt sorry for him. Andre Dirrell was whooping him so bad man, he didn't know whether to **** or go blind. He's one of those kind of guys that wants a yes man and if he wants a yes man, then I ain't that man. I'm not about to kiss up to no fighter. I always say, "My way is the only way." To be honest with you, I'm starting to think he's a little ******ed. I hope you got that down. Somebody told me they thought he was a little ******ed and I'm starting to think it's a fact. The more he opened his mouth, the more I began to believe what they saying.
PC: He also said he is with a former champion that knows how to make champions and that you only gave him 20 minutes of your time and then you moved on to your next fighter.
FM: Everybody in the gym knows he's lying about that. You can't make a effing champion giving him 20 minutes of your time. You can't make a champion like that and I had two fights with him. He won the title with me and defended it with me. He couldn't have won the effing title if he didn't have me. He defended the title with me and both times people said he looked better than he ever did in his life. Everything I done showed his ass, guess what he's trying to use? The same **** I done showed him. He won't have it long because he ain't got it down yet.
PC: If you could make a champion giving them 20 minutes a day, you're greater than you say you are.
FM: You right. If I can make a champion in 20 minutes, I'm greater than I say I am. I saw him say I teach my fighters the same combinations, but if I made all of the fighters that I made champions off of the same combinations, then that's why he's the effing champion right now. If I can teach him one combination and make him a champion, then that must be one helluva combination. If I tell you to throw the same combination over and over and over, what the eff are you crying about? You ain't got to throw but one set of punches. What you crying for? All of my fighters that became champions off of the same combinations…Lil Floyd done forgot more than Chad will ever learn. I want you to make sure that's down there too. Lil Floyd done forgot more than he'll ever learn. One thing that's for sure is my son ain't got no ******ation in him. My son is not ******ed. He will never be that kind of fighter. He was just getting to see the light, but you going to find out real soon. I done showed that guy so much ****, I guess he couldn't handle but one combination. He done got so much ****. He got a barrage that seemed like a rainbow to him man. He don't know what the eff going on. It ain't me. The world done said something must be wrong with him; he must be touched. Any time you can't handle no criticism, you in the wrong game. That mother****ing Dirrell boy was putting hands on him. He was on his way to sleep. He talking about, I don't want no…mother****er, I should've let Dirrell put him to sleep like he was about to anyway.
PC: So you feel like his time is coming?
FM: He don't have to talk about Floyd Mayweather Sr. because guess what, he about to see for his effing self. Let me tell you something man, I don't know if he ******ed or not, I'm just telling you. I can tell you one mother****ing thing…everything ain't there. Maybe he got some screws that ain't all the way bolted up like they're supposed to be. Something ain't right and it's a lot of bolts missing too. How in the hell can a man say he don't want a trainer…man this mother****er…man, please man. Make sure you got this, he's a goddamn fool! He's a damn fool, that's what's wrong with him. The ******ation coming in again, that's all it is man.
PC: So you make it clear that you are a no nonsense trainer with your fighters?
FM: Everybody knows that. Only a fruitcake wouldn't want to be told what to do. In this game right here, only a fruitcake wouldn't want proper instructions. Let me tell you something man, I already know he can't take the greatest punch in the world anyway. He done been on his effing ass about 3 times already. He ain't taking the greatest punch anyway; I'm already knowing that. He should've been trying to throw that one combination I've been teaching him. I was telling him he was going to box the Dirrell boy that day and he going to tell me, "I don't think I want to box him today." He don't like how I work. A guy told me today he was supposed to come run today with some guys and he didn't show up. He didn't even run today. He done got bigheaded man, before he got any money. He was nothing before he got with me and he won't be nothing after he leaves me. That's the way it's going to stand with him. When a person is schooling you man, on something you doing wrong, what am I supposed to say, "Look man, you shouldn't be letting him hit you like that?" Nah man! I ain't that kind of trainer, I'm a no nonsense kind of trainer. I ain't with no bull****. I ain't about to stand around here and kiss your ass. I'm going to tell you what you need to know and damn it, if it don't apply to you, then I'm not the one to train you man. You got the wrong guy.
PC: You're straight forward with your fighters?
FM: Look man, that's the way I am. I don't give a damn who know it; that's the way I am. Do you think that stops my phone from ringing? Hell nah! How am I disrespecting him by telling him to move his damn head? I'm telling him to move his damn head. I'm trying to tell him a way to keep him from getting his damn head knocked off and he gets mad? I ain't taking no damn blows. He says I'm talking to him wrong when I say things like, "Man, you getting your damn head knocked off. Move your damn head." Man, eff him! You tell him my attitude is going to stay nasty. I'm going to be me and be the kind of guy that I am to keep my guys winning. That's why my fighters win. That's why I'm a winning coach. We are going to see on the 29th.
