Ray Lewis Jr, so you are one of the new guys around here, heh? well at least you don't sound like an *******.

saying vitali would get killed by any of the beltholders is making you sound like your new to boxing. not saying you are, that is just how it comes off.

most people, putting aside the racists and trash talking nuthuggers, would say that vitali, in any form close to ready, would squash any comp out there. there is a reason for that consensus - because he would.

believe me when i say vitali would simply crush anybody holding a belt now, or five years ago. of course ll would be a bit more of a challenge, but lewis is not even out of the question.

rose, it doesn't matter bro. he has already earned the shot at being the #1 challenger. that is what is meant by the emeritus status. technically, he should be training to fight the belt holder. the wbc has bent their own rules - showing that in boxing, there are no rules apparently.

i have a feeling that he will retire again if this minor injury bugs him more. if vk is anywhere near healthy, i expect his opponent to be having his ass handed to him. providing that vitali is even 75% his old self.

btw, i wouldn't call his injury "games". he certainly doesn't play when it comes to his boxing career.

I feel you J....He needs to do something...Injuries are often caused by Poor Conditioning...Could that be his case??

i doubt it is poor conditioning. vk and his bro are always in condition - even when not fighting.

i would be willing to bet that years of fighting had broke his body down a bit. that, and his obsession to train as hard as possible going into a fight. he is no slouch in the gym. i've heard many people say that the klitschko's are the hardest working fighters in the game.

you do know that he had a kickboxing career before he went into boxing, right? he was a four time kickboxing champ and had suffered at least a knee injury from back in his KB career. he also had an extensive and impressive amateur boxing career consisting of something like over 200 fights or so. he has done more fighting than most any two boxers combined.

The only reason I've said he would get killed is because of inactivity. I cannot just say I will see the same Vitali that was a beast years ago. Lately he is becoming injury prone. (knee & back) Then his age is not on his side. Like I stated earlier he needs at least one tune-up fight to see where he stands. I respect Vitali for trying to push his career on but I think his body is giving him a sign.

Look at it like this, what if he seriously gets hurt fighting on of the belt holder. The point I stressing is that he needs to see how his body will hold up against "LIVE" opponents instead of sparring partners. That is why I say he doesnt need to fight a belt holder just right now. All I'm saying is fight just 1 tune-up then go after the champ. Given his history on his injuries, I would say take the fight with McCline and he will get his shot. Hell, he can fight a bum for all I care. If he cant stay healthy then its hang'em up.

I had no clue about the kickboxing career..

I would love to see him fight again. But if your body is saying no then he should get his mind right and call it a career..

i do actually agree with you for the most part. but we must remember that vitali doesn't spar passively. he was known for sparring without headgear. in fact, he is the only boxer i have ever heard spar without headgear, that crazy ass mother****er.

if vitali is less than, say, 70% in a month or two, he probably should retire.

rosewood, there might be some footage of his kickboxing on youtube. i have a kickboxing fight of his from 1993 on tape where he fights a guy named ryushi yanagisawa. vitali does an unbelievably smooth and ferocious spinning back fist. he was actually a good kicker as well. needless to say, ryushi got completey dominated and must have been knocked down a dozen times.

there might be some of it on youtube.

btw, his kickboxing career is where most of his injuries came from. manny steward had stated that as well. manny also said that he likes to keep his injuries quiet if he can.

Damn, that why Vitali could take bombs.

I like this point; Holyfield, who arguably should have his own 'Emeritus' status, got into fighting condition and took 4 tune-ups before getting his shot...

And I'll reiterate my point earlier, if Vitali can't get his **** together for a tune-up, then how the hell will he even be ready for a title shot?...
