Vitali was about to get his KO if the fight was to continue another 2 or 3 rounds."

Looking worse and actually being worse off are too completely different things. Vitail's cuts were clean slices as in they were not caused by an accumilation of power shots or a "beating", where as Lewis's lumpy head tales a different story.

What actually bothered Vitali more than anything were the continous kidney shots to the lower back that the ref refused to break up while Lewis was holding and hitting. As I recall, Vitali had to shove him off himself. Disgraceful officiating for a Championship fight.

I doubt either fighter would have been koed had the fight continued, Vitali was drained and Lewis was battered. We would have saw more holding and a few smothered shots but that's probably it. That's just my opinion.
kidney shots my ass. If two fighters are tied up but one is still able to punch, a ref does not have to break them. besides, if my memory is right, Vitali was holding behind of the head at that time, 'technically' illegal even though i personally dont care too much since everyone doesnt it anyway.

pretty funny part of that fight is when they both fell down on top of each other, and Vitali did a little kick to Lewis from the ground, and then Lewis helped him up. Looked very composed, considering they were in a brawl.

Sorry, your memory is wrong and call me crazy but "rabbit" punches are illegal as is "holding and hitting" ; especailly if one fighter is in position where he can't throw back or defend himself. These rules are regularly enforced and should be! Watch the fight; Lewis is the one holding behind the head, dude. In Round 4 around the 2:00 minute mark, he locks Vitali around the back of the neck and visibily unloads with everything he has into his body(mostly the lower back and kidney area) for an extended period of time. I'm not saying it was intentional malice but Lewis was most likely in survial mode;grabbing and swinging at whatever he could hit. It should have been broken up because it was repeated fouls that could seriously injure a fighter and according to most sources did cause internal injures to Vitali.

I would say this had more of an effect on the match than any of the cuts(which were being controlled and protected btw) as he really looked spent and less active afterwards. This lead to the messy 6 round where I can't see how anybody can argue that either guy was going to rally and knock the other out later in the fight. I think we were in for lots of holding and a few sloppy exchanges with Vitali possibly keeping his lead on the cards and winning a decision but that is just pure speculation on my part.

Not sure what the spot you mentioned has anything to do with the one later in the fight. Lewis helped Vitali up earlier so he couldn't commit fouls in the heat of the moment in an increasingly ugly/sloppy fight....excuse me but wtf type of logic is that.

Anni, I thought it was Danny "Humdilla" Williams Vitali was skeered of LOL!

wow wlad would've beat Lewis? No, no no I dont know where you are getting this but Lewis isn't a Calvin Brock. Lewis would definetly TKO wlad within six rounds. I don't understand why I have to even say this.

This certainly doesn't go without saying; Wlad is a better boxer as well as bigger, stronger, and faster. You're free to disagree, but you should recognize Wlad is not so many wins from drawing even in terms of accomplishments.

If he unifies, wins his next six or seven fights, beating Peter again and Chagaev, you could arguably put him ahead of Lewis.

This is speculative, sure, but it's not insane; time will tell, but Lewis hadn't done half as much at age 30
