I dont believe he's the robotic fighter your saying is, not at all. He's got the same kind of punching power that Corrie Sander did, explosive quick. He gets inside on anybody and they're done for. Bigger guys like I mentioned Peter are slow clods not on his skill level that would make him look like a defensive genious. There is little doubt that Povetkin has the talent to do that, however at the present time he does not possess those skills. He has far too much of that useless European boxing incorporated into his style. Too much footwork, not enough lateral head movement. Those flaws in his style make him a very easy match Wladimir Klitschko.Last edited by The Troll; 09-10-2007, 10:17 PM.Comment

The Bomber usually gets it right with the Heavies.
Let's face it, Povetkin is limited. He's not a masterboxer, I think Chagaev would win about ten rounds on him, each one getting easier as he learns AP's timing and sticks a left on his jaw everytime Povetkin tries to throw more than one punch.
Peter is NOT a sloppy clubber, he'd eventually bully Povetkin and probably put him to sleep.
Both of the abovementioned can present a challege to Wlad, but Povetkin couldn't
I don't see him cracking this top three.
He's good all around, but unspectacular, whereas these three are at least decent all around and also have some special element to their repertoireComment

He had a long amateur career, like Chagaev. Credit to them both for stepping up the competition early in their pro careers, but most fighters have ceilings they're eventually going to hit. It's not like Povetkin is 20 years old.
You want a young, raw, explosive heavyweight, look at Boytsov. I'm not saying he's going to be a star, but that's raw potential. Povetkin is a seasoned fighter who just has limitationsComment

Where do you get that he's limited from? Limted in what area? I guess he's not going to be dancng around the ring on his toes like Holmes any time soon but he's proficient at what he does. The Bomber usually gets it right with the Heavies.

How many other heavyweights in recent years since have been where he's at already in his career. Fighting Byrd in 14th fight, It will be alot like the Donald fight IMO.Comment

He doesn't have the feet to be fleetfooted, no. But that's not what I meant. He's not an explosive puncher like Sanders, or heavy-handed like Peter. Like I said, he's not a masterboxer like Chagaev, doesn't have the speed, power, or technique like Klitschko. He's a good puncher, has decent power, etc. I just don't think he has anything spectacular to bring to the table. He doesn't have the power to hurt Wlad, and those are the guys usually who have a chance with the champ. He can't move his head and counterpunch like Chagaev. He'll just get his face cut up with the big jab before he finally gets concussed with the power punches. It will be uglyWhere do you get that he's limited from? Limted in what area? geez it's seems like a lost cause trying to convince you. I'll give it to you Byrd won't win against him but he stops in the IBF tournie after that. Oh yea I forgot that Larry Donald was a top 10 fighter in fact he was almost champion of the world if Povetkin hadn't beat him! Larry Donald is such a great fighter jeesus I can't believe Povetkin beat him, Larry Donald has only one loss and that's to Povetkin. Unbelievable! Ok well if you want to know who's gonna beat povetkin just look at my sig, it says it all.Comment
