Marquez lost to Chris John didn't he????? He hasn't been exactly that great either...looking alot slower then usual. He's still got better offensive skills then Floyd Mayweather...even though his reflexes have declined.
I forgot about the John loss. Anyways, idk, he is up to #3 right now, and I don't know if Hatton will be able to jump over him after the Mayweather win (remember Forrest didn't). If Pacquiao and Mayweather lose it is probably going to be either Hatton or Marquez (or Barrera if he beats Pacquiao with a crushing knockout or something).
floyd looses he will still stay number 1....the record got nothing to do with it
if he wins or looses everyone still know he better then anyone else in boxing so he will stay up there till he truly retires... wat i dont understand is why is he still on the list shouldnt they have toook him off when he retired

Floyd is the smartest boxer of our era that is why he is able to adapt to many different styles during the fight. He is also highly durable, thats why you cant bully him around. He knows his way around the ring. He knows when to punch. He doesnt just throw punches. If you think Hatton can even touch mayweathers shoe string you dont know the secrets of boxing. Its not all about punching and knocking people out, its a whole bunch of things put together in one. Thats what makes a complete package.
Check the swing between 2001 and 2002. Remember 2002 was the year that Shane Mosley lost to Vernon Forrest twice. Forrest was undefeated (like Hatton) and beat the undefeated P4P #1 (like Mayweather) twice, and only got bumped up to #4. I know Ricky is ranked higher now, but I doubt he jumps to #1 if Forrest didn't get that far up there.
I'd have to say of course not.
It will be a victory of styles for Hatton should he prevail and would not merit an automatic #1 ranking. If he went on to beat a Mosley or Cotto he might be granted more consideration - but in my own scenario I don't see that as being very likely based on the size and strength of either of those two and their particular styles..
