    What if Hatton wins?

What if Ricky Hatton does the seemingly impossible and manages to beat Mayweather, what happens next?

Will he be regarded as p4p no.1?
Does he stay at welterweight or go back down to light-welter?
Who would be best equipped to beat him at light-welter and welterweight?

I think if he did manage to win and that's a big if, he would have established himself at welterweight and should stay there. I don't think it's good for anyone to keep going up n down weight divisions. At light-welter I don't think there is anyone to challenge him and he could clean up. Welterweight has the bigger names and better fighters, the next biggest fights would be mosley and cotto, can't comment on cintron as not really seen him. Even if he doesn't win but performs admirably he should stay at welterweight.
Can't wait for the fight though, and hope Hatton does himself proud win lose or draw.

If Hatton wins, he can't stay at WW. The current WW crop is HUGE. Those guys are monsters. PBF is fighting at WW, but is really a smallish JWW.

Floyd was 146 on fight night for Judah and 148 on fight night for ODLH. That is what lightweights come in at.

Hatton can't stay at WW and face Clottey, Cintron, Margarito, Williams, etc.... those guys are damn near Middleweights.

if hatton wins, ill be straight on here bragging.

Then the PBF nuthuggers will start with the excuses...

        "PBF was robbed"
"PBF came out of retirement, he wasn't at his peak"
"Hatton cheated, he hugged to much"
"PBF was focussing on dancing instead of fighting!"

        Mark my words.

I think Hatton will then try to fight DLH. If not I'm certain he would rematch PBF. If that doesn't happen. No fights at 140 so I think he'll stay up anyway. And if either of those options are gone then the winner of Cotto/Mosley. As far as #1 I think if Pac man knocks out Barrera he'll move up to number 1.

If Hatton wins, which is not impossible but I only give him a 5% chance of it, then he'll probably fight Cotto at 147 or return to 140. I can't see him beating Williams, Clottey, Margarito, or Cintron (they're all too tall for him) so if a Cotto fight can't be made, he'll probably return to 140 for a few more fights and retire.

You think he'd retire so soon? Isn't he only 28?

Yeah no way he retires anytime soon. I think he'll be one of those fighter who stays around until every bit of skill has left his body.
