Obviously worldwide Beckham is more famous, and he is probably more recognizable with all of the tabloid coverage he has gotten recently in America.

Soccer is still a joke in America. I have still never met a person who will openly admit to watching soccer.

Soccer is a kids sport in America. You stop playing when you are about 12.

well soccer is where latino gangs form, soccer is the only sports it hooligans make into the news and actully people die for it. Ask Pablo Escbar what he did to the guy who scored own goal for Columbia?

I respect other sport but many Amercian are too arogant once it comes to there stuff, just because you suck doesnt mean that it bad, because the rest of the 5 billion around the world watch it and love it

The only reason soccer is even being talked about on ESPN is because of Beckham, he is the most famous athlete on this earth.

                    Most famous active athlete.

If you put David Beckham and Muhammad Ali in a stadium full of people, I bet they chant Ali, not Beckham.
