yeah tito was very good and all, but that doesnt changer the fact he didnt fight or beat the best welters of his time...

he didnt fight Quartey, he didnt fight Whitaker sooner, at least when DLH beat Whitaker, Pernell was still p4p top 3..., DLH beat him 9 rounds to 3....

theres plenty of examples were the record books have meant ****, whitaker vs chavez is one example...

I agree with you on your overall post.

But from 93ish to 99ish, Tito fought and beat almost everybody. Then he moved up and destroyed a highly-regarded David Reid, and a very good Vargas.

I just posted this on another thread, but it also applies here:

      December 94

      1: Whitaker
      2: RJJ
      3: McClellan
      4: Randall
      5: Lopez
      6: Canizales
      7: Gonzales
      8: Toney

      5: Barrera
      6: Bowe
      7: Lopez
      8: Chavez
      9: Quartey
      10: Hamed

      Ring magazine pound for pound rankings;

      6: Whitaker
      7: Hamed
      8: Tapia

Obviously, both guys were considered at the top during their era. But the two losses to Tito and Shane knocked DLH down a peg.

i know man, but youre basing your statements a little too much in books that are obviously bad written, IMO theres always room to discredit them, hell didnt fighters form the 20's had dozens of NC's that the writers of a different era later scored properly???

i mean de la hoya beat king of the division to win the title then beat contenders #1(tito)and #2 (quartey)...while tito beat contenders #3 and down...i agree tito should be ranked high, but IMO, he sould at Least be below DLH...

DLH, not only because of his resume, but because he had better boxing Skills than Tito. But, Tito never died wondering in his biggest fights like DLH. I have more respect for Tito however.

They were both knocked out by Hopkins.

Tito busted up Mayorga, Oscar repeated it later.

Tito busted up Vargas, Oscar repeated it later.

Oscar has a close fight with a fading Pernell. Tito beat up on a cracked-out Pernell.

They had a few common opponents. Tito demolished Joppy, a legitimate WW contender. Oscar lost (!) to Sturm at MW.

Tito basically cleaned out the WW division. Oscar collected more belts.

In your mind, who goes down as having the greater IN-RING legacy? And who was the better fighter?

Oscar had a better arsenal, and better chin...he was a tough man's boxer.

Trinidad...he just had a rediculous rubberband reflex in his shoulders. Wich gave him a whipping lash of knock out power. That little boy's body, holding that much power?....it was in his tight ass little narrow back, and the back of his tight ass little narrow legs lol. (no ****) His ligaments were made of rubber, the way he was able to whip around those hooks. Very dense tissue in his limbs i bet.

Oscar owned him in a their fight, Oscar fought a questinable fight toward the end...granted. But if Campas and Vargas can put Trinidad down. Makes me wonder how Oscar would do if he actually put his body weight into a punch, as oppose to puttin quick shots on Trinidad. Oscar had the power to KO and put down Trinidad, but he didnt. His fault, he has to live with it. Trinidad cant hit anything that moves....His fault, he has to live with it.

But the Irony of the Whitaker fight's..

Oscar thought he boxed Trini up..Oscar felt he should have had a win.

Whitaker thought he boxed Oscar up...Pernell felt he should have had a win.

              ------

Now immediatley after both those fights...what happened?

1.) Oscar stood infront of shane toe to toe, trying to match speed, and lost by decision.

2.) Whitaker tried to stand infront of Trinidad when he shoulda fought him with the same style as he fought Oscar, what happened? he ended up stayin infront of Trinidad a moment too long, and he lost..when he was beating him to the punch through out the fight.

The inconsistancey of the judges in this sport of boxing are what make and break fighters in our generation. The pay off's, the ********s, the bull****...they ruin the sport from making real star's.

Imagine how Oscar would have fought Shane, if he got the decision against Trinidad? He probably would have done the smart thing (wich his first instinct in the Trinidad fight) wich would be to try to pick shots on Mosleys short shots.

Whitaker probably would have tried to Box Trinidad to a decision as oppose stayin toe to toe.

Alot of thoughts one should have, especially if you dismiss the bull decisions this sport has seen.

with all that, how can you guys hate MMA so much? MMA has KO's and submissions to determine winners, the judges are rarely a factor. AND THE FIGHTS ARE STILL IN VEGAS!

Tito Trinidad Held the IBF Welter Weight Title (147lbs) for a span of almost 7 years....that's "16" straight title defenses. If you do not think that is impressive, go into the history books and you find that no one defended it longer.

At Welter Weight, Tito had one of the best KO percentages in the history of boxing.

Tito is much more exciting but Oscar knows the blue print in beating Tito.

But i going with Tito love his style but which if he was more aggressive than waiting for the for a one punch KO
