Mayweather isn't a particularly good trash talker, but he does irritate his opponents into a reaction. A good trash talker would be someone like Muhammed Ali or the older version of George Foreman, men who know exactly what buttons to push. Floyd's techniques is to push all of the buttons over and over and hope that one of them will work eventually. It has had the effect of annoying his opponents but has it ever thrown anyone completely off their game? Compare Ali reversing Sonny Liston's intimidation with his "ugly bear" routine, or Foreman completely shattering Michael Moorer's newfound confidence with his comments about sunglasses to Floyd's repeated witterings that left De La Hoya a bit irritated and you'll see what I mean.

Floyd is effective at trash-talking in terms of irritating them but he hasn't shown in many of his mega fights that he can actually beat his opponents up as he always claims before his fights. What I mean to say is that of all opponents that Mayweather has thrashed only one guy pissed himself before the bell and that was Gatti. Dlh, Baldomir and Judah seemed pretty comfortable in the ring with him even though they were outmatched.
I personally liked James's thrash-tall the most. He's just a madman. I thought Tyson was the most effective at it in recent years because 1) he was articulate and 2) he was an animal)
Bernard Hopkins has always been great but at this stage of his career he is much like the boogie man like Winky said. I still think Bernard is better than Floyd though. I mean he ****ed Tarver's psyche so bad it was embarassing to watch.Comment

With all due respect, I think you should reflect on what Ali actually did.Mayweather isn't a particularly good trash talker, but he does irritate his opponents into a reaction. Ali was somebody who repeatedly called Frazier an Uncle Tom, a "gorilla", etc. Frazier was somebody who gave Ali money to support his family during Ali's suspension. That is one of the reasons why Joe has never forgiven MA.
The "uncle Tom" stuff was way out-of-bounds.
And, given the way Frazier fought in MSG, I doubt he was "thrown off his game".
It is not PBF's tactic to be that "quote-a-minute" quip producer. In fact, you can pull up the BoxingScene presser video and PBF wasn't inflammatory for the Judah or Baldomir fights. Floyd was just creating a 'persona' to hype up The World Awaits. It was clearly an act. And FMJ got more satistaction from telling Oscar that he was going to beat him, then doing it. Floyd envies Oscar's business situation. Everybody does.
And if Oscar allowed himself to get rankled by that, he is as juvenile as Floyd was.
But Ricky is going to lose this fight very badly. My opinion is that the stuff he said about PBF will bite him in the ass.Comment

If Floyd and Hatton were Thunderrdome posters, hatton would get much better marks.
Hatton: If Floyd could be reincarnated he'd come back as himself.
There's some wit there.
Floyd: I'm the best fighter in the world, I'ma knock him out.
OK, that's nice but he has no style
Floyd borrows from Pa Ha, whereas Ricky almost has some Hoff to himComment

Gatti said that he was going to "spank that little boy", "he's never been hit like I'll hit him", etc. I don't think Gatti panicked. He was just operating several levels below... That didn't work out for him.Floyd is effective at trash-talking in terms of irritating them but he hasn't shown in many of his mega fights that he can actually beat his opponents up as he always claims before his fights. .
Judah didn't say much. In fact, he didn't participate in the promotion. But he did have t-shirts made up for his camp that said "Pretty Girl, you're next".
Baldomir is eternally classy.
PBF and Corrales had an acrimonious relationship. (domestic abuse stuff)
We all saw The World Awaits buildup.
Gatti, Judah and Baldomir took a TOTAL of three or four rounds. Combined. Delahoya won the four of five rounds that he wins in every fight. So I can't be too critical.Comment

The same ole Hugh I see. No matter what Hatton does he ain't gon have a chance in hell. Hatton is an above avergae tough guy with well below average boxing skills. He would be better suited in the UFC, just face it Hugh. Cause come Dec 8th, a boxing massacre will occur and the pretty will stay pretty!Comment
