KELLY PAVLIK is a GOOD DEFENSIVE fighter

He really is. But Max Kellerman described it perfectly, he does have Defensive LAPSES where he's not thinking denense, he's only thinking offense and he gets nailed a bunch.

But im just watchin some tape and to me at lease, it seems he only has these lapses when he's got his man in some trouble.

Against Miranda, he had just blasted Miranda against the ropes and was opening up on him. But Miranda has so much heart that he also started opening up and landed some blistering right counters. And another time Pavlik had just got Miranda to take a step back but Miranda jumped forward with an uppercut and caught pavlik.

Pavlik really had miranda in a world of trouble from the very first round.

And against Zertuche, Pavlik seemed to have some trouble adjusting the the very wide looping, brawler type style that Zertuche has.

I've been waver a bit on how and who wins this fight, but im becoming more confident in Pavlik by late round stoppage.

Taylors speed and movement should keep him in the fight for about 6,7 rounds, but Pavlik will pull ahead and start dominating like he has done so many times before.

But maybe Pavliks defensive lapses are more then just lapses. I've just seen him use many good defensive techniques effectively AND i've seen him look pretty good defensive when he wants to be.

My main problem with his defense is that it does seem like he hangs his chin out a bit. That said, even with Jermain's power which used to seem impressive, Taylor has had trouble showing that off lately although much of that has to do with his opponents. Still, he should have been able to plant Ouma and did not. I think that Pavlik is solid enough defensively to avoid winging punches which is all Miranda had in his bag. I admit though that he did so muchh better against Miranda than I thought he would.

He keeps his right hand too low on his chin.A looping left hook would get him.

Zertuche and Miranda (mostley Zertuche)threw plenty of those, and neither of them hurt him. The only shots that seem to hurt him are the uppercuts

Yea i think Body work could be really effective. I dont think Taylor could badly hurt him there, cause Pavlik IS in great conidition always, but i could see it forcing Pavliks hands lower. Pavlik is inexperienced at this level

Yea thats true. Pavlik is really big so body shots are kinda inviting.

All Taylor has to do to win this fight is stay out of reach of Pavlik's jab and counter smash his cornpone face with right hands. I don't hate Pavlik, but he is simply not on Jermain Taylor's level of boxing. I can see Pavlik trying to fight like Winky did, keeping his hands up and trying to jab Taylor into the ropes, but failing because his hands aren't fast and Jermain can avoid it. Plus, Taylor obviously has respect for this guys strength. He didn't have respect for Winky's strength and for good reason. We are going to see the best Jermain Taylor we've ever seen in this fight.
