Did Margarito "Deserve" a Fight With Mayweather in 2006?

What rule is it that a fighter has to sign a fight immediately after he gets done fighting (Judah in this instance)?

There is no rule to say that a fight has to be made. Just that for a while Margarito was the most legit opponent until Baldomir signed with Mayweather. And if Baldomir did not have the linear championship and instead just held a belt, Margarito would still have been a more legit opponent.

One thing that annoys me, is that people act like PBF was definatly getting that 8 mil. Does anyone actually believe Arum at this point...I think you are an idiot of you do, but thats just me.

Plenty of people are willing to believe that Hatton was ducking Floyd by pricing himself out, why not believe Arum when he offeed 8 mil for Margarito?

im happy that there is a poll for this thread because now i see all the people who said no and these people dont know anything about boxing. it is very clear that margarito deserved to fight mayweather. he was the longest reigning champ at welterweight and he was beating all comers. he destroyed cintron like nothing and that guy has a belt now. he also had 8 millions reasons to make the fight.

if margarito fought mayweather today margarito would be the best welterweight mayweather has ever faced. i think everyone will agree with me. margarito always looked for easy competiton. that is why he chose a bum like baldomir and his sparring partner judah rather than a real challenge from the mexican bad ass. ducking margarito will haunt mayweathers legacy forever!!!

they call him out because hes an easier fight and hes more recognizable plus hes no risk dont you know anything....these big welterweights have no fear of mayweather.........why do you think mayweather is fighting little ricky hatton.........paul and tony are to much for him he would get swalloed late i a fight with either............so thats why he picks out who he fights
