I would definitely have had a shot at the title if I was American.
At the very least, you're probably more entertaining than John Ruiz.

          true ****.

We call our domestic champions 'world champions'. Some of the posters here are thick enough to try to justify that. We can't even medal in our own games (basketball, baseball), but we insist it's only b/c the rules are different. Our players are 'really' better because they are taller and perform well in useless isolated training events like vertical jump and 40 yrd. dash. Americans don't even understand sports, they don't understand WHY we don't do any of it right anymore.

          Sorry

They do however seem to recognize mexicans, is that because they border mexico. I'm not saying that our fighter's are the best or anyone else's, and quite often they do have the best boxers, but it just seems to me that they are reluctant, to rate our fighters. Like Dynamite_kid said on a previous post if Lennox Lewis was american he would have gone down as one of the all-time greats. Does anyone agree with me, also can anyone think of any other instances, where they were reluctant to rate a superior fighter from either britain or anywhere else, above one of there fighters.
No, I dont think we Americans ignore your fighters (I assume you are talking about European fighters). We know your fighters, however we havent been exposed to them much. Those who we have heard of that come over this way have either peaked our interests or been more hype. Unfortunately, the fear of corrupt scoring has led to many of our fighters to not risk traveling overseas to face some of the competition, so there really is no way of rating them. I think Calzaghe is the perfect example of what you are saying. We knew of him here in the States, but there was not much exposure. Once Lacy went over there and Calzaghe gave him that beatdown, it opened our eyes and made us appreciate him. There's the reason we, for the most part, consider him the best Super Middleweight of the world.

              hahaha...thats a good point.

Im an American, and Ill admit I sometimes dont rate British fighters perhaps where they belong. Why? because I never get to see them fight! Yall have sky sports or Eurosport and all that, but its kind of hard to get in America, my best chance is the internet, and even then its not the easiest thing to get British fights...

I give British fighters credit where credit is due though, when Ive seen them and have good records. imo, Lennox Lewis has to be a top 10 heavyweight, whatever the hell nationality hes considered...and Hatton and Calzaghe, theyre the top of their weight classes and ought to be on the p4p list because of their consistancy.
Is that fair enough to you?

After the USA and Mexico, there are more British world champs than any other nation. The Blighty boys aren't doing too badly.

probably 90% of American boxing fans want hatton to beat mayweather. Just because they dont think he will doesnt mean they underrate him.

And lennox lewis is overrated ****.

You may have a point. How he ever got KO'd by a guy like Rahman I'll never know. Still, it could have been worse, he could have lost to Maskaev twice.
