Almost like the second coming of Roberto Duran... a very good fighter that wasn't the best at the higher weight classes, but was downright scary at lightweight.

I think it's funny how everyone says that Shane was a beast at 135 when, in reality, he didn't really fight anyone worth bragging about. Who'd he fight? Yes, he won the title from a good fighter and then went on to fight a bunch of nobodies, an OLD and battered John John Molina, and a less than stelar Jesse James Leija. Other than that, it was tomato cans and more tomato cans.

Yes, he had speed and power at lightweight, that's true, but he never really faced that many good opponents so it's really more of a "coulda woulda shoulda" than anything else.

            Agreed.

Shane accomplished almost nothing at lightweight.

Funny that you should bring that up. Mayweather offered Mosley a fight at 135.

I was/am a SSM fan. But you can't give somebody credit for something they did not do. SSM didn't fight anyone. His rep exceeds his accomplishments at 135.

I disagree with SSM beating PBF at lightweight. SSM has always been sloppy and him being over zealous makes him get out of position and causes him to miss to many punches. SSM making that many mistakes against someone the caliber of PBF is not good because PBF would have made him pay. PBF has always been the more technically sound fighter. The mental aspect of everytime SSM gets hit with a big shot he wants to fire a big shot back immediately. That gets into trouble and that is part of the reason why he lost to Forrest.
