why arent US boxing venues bigger?

always astonishes me how small a lot of the famous arenas are, like madison square and the vegas venues. why arent the big fights put in bigger stadiums more often. calzaghe-kessler is gonna sell out 60,000+ in cardiff and if mayweather was willin to fight hatton in england there was talk about it bein at wembley and 90,000 capacity.

surely its not beyond vegas or new york to build a custom built fight arena with a 25,000+ capacity?

the money doesnt come from the gates, PPV is where the money is at, and the fights are mostly at casinos. Plus there are big fights in the states on a consistant basis so i think its better to have a packed 15,000 than 20,000 in a less than half full venue.

Actually.. the Arenas are decent sizes. We do have Stadiums that can fit upwards of 50,000 plus.. just not regular fans to fill those seats.

cause sadly boxing isn't an occasion to be savoured anymore, all fights should be in a warehouse with a computer processing all the information, don't see why you can't have a high attendance and high ppv

theyd still make as much on PPV even if the attendance was much higher

boxing is a spectator sport. are americans happy to watch everything on TV? watchin boxin live is an adrenaline rush like no other. pbf v hatton could easily sell 40-50,000 tickets surely, even if it was mostly english? i know for a fact double, even treble the amount of english would go as for castillo if there was enough seats. payin $100 a pop at least thats $millions of revenue theyre losin out on even just lookin at it in a monetary sense

obviously, the amount of big fights in the US its not gonna be the case for most fights but for these fights with huge global appeal they should put it in a baseball ground or something, make it a true spectacular sportin event. god, if hatton beats pbf i hope he can lure a big name to england. even at 2am hed get 90,000 at wembley. would be one of the greatest boxin events of all time

People still NEED to show up for the attendance to be higher though.

They used to be bigger. They used to have like 60,00 people or something at the outside stadium of Caesar's Palace.

But the thing is, what else is the venue going to hold? Boxing alone wouldnt be able to support a venue like that. In England the soccor stadiums fill up consistantly and once in a while you get a big fight. Like i said earlier, there are big fights just about every month in the US so expecting 50,000 is not realistic on a monthly basis. I guess a baseball stadium would work but for the most part its perfect right now to keep the fights in the casinos.

                    obviously not every big fight

im talkin about the true mega fights between the superstars, and hold them in different places. obviously vegas has enough big fights but why not put big fights on in baseball or even soccer stadiums in cities that dont usually get the big fights like chicago or boston or san francisco.

if dlh pbf had happened in texas or florida they could have surely sold 40,000+ tickets? or am i overstatin the popularity of boxin in america?
