tzysu was a 'young' 36 in that he hadnt fought a huge amount of fights and hadnt been in many wars. the age thing is overplayed, his stamina was good in that fight, he was simply battered into submission. it takes a lot to make a great fighter quit on his stool, he simply couldnt take the idea of havin to share the ring with hatton for a second longer, he was a goner

castillo is only 33, and admittedly looked rusty in a fight against an unknown when hes used to fightin the best, whats new there? even the greatest fighters have an off day, especially when fightin people they know theyll beat. castillo was destroyed by hatton, knocked down by a shot that would have knocked him down 5, 10 years ago. a shot that would probably do the same to pbf. how people can say hatton hasnt got a chance is beyond me

i swear all the hatton haters only talk down about him cos most hatton fans dont like pbf, mainly because he's an arrogant ****. as a result fans of both fighters end up overplayin the weaknesses of the opposition fighter. childish bull****. i hope hatton wins, and i think hes got the tools to but i make pbf favourite

I'm not distorting the truth. Ricky Hatton never said that he wasn't ready for Floyd. Ray Hatton said that. And Ray Hatton says a lot of things.

Is fighting in England the equivalent of fighting in the States? Yes and no. Hatton is on Floyd's home turf fighting in Vegas. The fact that British fans of Hatton will hop on a plane to see their guy while Floyd fans won't even hop on a bus lessens the equality here. It's going to be probably 15,000 Hatton fans to maybe 2,000 Floyd fans on the night of the fight instead of 60,000 Hatton fans and two or three of Mayweather's close family if it was in England.

Your posts are on the whole good, but I sincerely think you're (consistently) overrating the influence of audience. When a boxers in the ring his body shuts off the organs/senses it doesn't need to use (it's called perceptual tunnelling). He'll be able to ignore the row. Floyd will be so focused on the task ahead, whether there were 50 or 50,000 Hatton fans wouldn't really swing the decision.

some athleters improve with age, or at least dont deteriorate as quickly as others - calzaghe is 35 and as good, probably better, than ever. hopkins, lewis, tarver, glen johnson etc. matt skelton is ****in 40 (and ****e i know lol but 36 is not THAT old these days), even vit klitschko is 35 and no ones said hes too old. the list goes on


and what parts bull****? hatton dropped castillo with a shot that would have dropped him 5 years ago, you tellin me a 28 year old castillo would have walked through that punch?

note...i didnt read the rest of the thread so im not aware if this has been said but here is my opinion:

Ricky hatton has a good chance at beating floyd. As another poster mentioned in another thread floyd has looked jittery (as if he had too much coffee) and is extremely sensitive to the slightest hand movements.

this was obvious in 2 fights before his last but very obvious against oscar.

i think that is for one of two reasons...

A) he's fearing the power of these fighters
B) he's getting older and he doesnt trust his reflexes or instincts anymore.

regardless of which it is that is still good for hatton...whether he's afaid of hatton's power or wont trust his instincts that give hatton something to key in on and use to his advantage.

i dont care what anyone here or floyd says about this one but mayweather needs to have great respect for hatton's power...hatton isnt a blown up lightweight...he's a true light welter/welterweight...he's packs a lot of power in his punches and if floyd plans on not considering it a fact we could all see the P4P champ get knocked down (not out) in this fight because hatton will catch him if floyd doesnt protect himself well enough...or gets overconfident in the fact hatton cant punch.

that wouldnt be the first time a fighter got knocked down by not having respect for someone else's power...

anyway...back on track here...

judging by floyd's last fight i seen somethings he wasnt doing too well against...

A) the jab.

when oscar was using his jab floyd had little to no answer for it. oscar said it after the fight but i didnt need to hear it to know, "when i was using my jab it was hurting him (floyd mayweather)". and its true. floyd did not like that jab and in my opinion oscar wasnt getting all his force behind it...he we using it simply to set up other punches...not to inflict serious injury...but it worked...floyd was so occupied with the jab of oscar he wasnt doing much at those points in the fight. the more he used the jab...the more he was winning...

so hatton will use the jab (im sure he and his trainers have studied the tapes and have picked up on this) so look for hatton to use that jab in excess (if he wants to win). he can use this to get inside and make floyd take punishment.

B) feints

whenever oscar would faint floyd got jittery and looked so uncomfortable no matter where it occured in the ring...whether it be on the ropes or in the center of the ring it looked to bother floyd...im going to assume he was very respectful of oscar's power and didnt want to take a good right.

hatton can use this to his advantage to slow down mayweather to his advantage...

you feint a lead right and when floyd gets those long arms up (especially his left hand which he swings around his waist a lot) floyd will get jittery and get those hands up to defend himself...right? well when he does that hatton ****s left hooks to the body of floyd...eventually slowing down floyd mayweather.

after he's slowed him down to his own speed...then hatton can get inside (much easier...and of course behind the jab) and go to work on floyd...bodyshots...and those crisp tight combinations he uses quite often.

dont look for hatton to just swarm floyd with his body...but look for him to use those fast combinations and bodyshots (that hatton is known for) to rack up the points and quite possibly give him a 12 round decision win over mayweather.

thats how...

if he uses that gameplan im roughly 85% sure he can win...

if he doesnt then floyd will win...

but even if he gets down on points (to the point where he needs a knockout) dont count him out...if all else fails late in the fight he always has a puncher's chance...he's strong...good chin...great with the body shots...fast hands...good crisp combinations (very clean combinations...rarely does he land sloppy combos)...overall a pretty good boxer in my opinion.

but as you see hatton has a bit more than a punchers chance...well he has that too...

im not saying he will win for sure...my heart is on his side...

however floyd has a great chance as well...

despite what others have said i dont think this is going to be a blowout...its going to be a close fight.

btw...it was quite interesting when hatton fought castillo but i think it would be pretty funny to have hatton's marching band there again...lol

that would be pretty strange to have on a big PPV fight...

actually i didnt think they let these guys play those instruments throughout the whole fight...

I personally don't think that punch would've dropped Castillo at 28. Just my two cents.

hatton's chin is way too strong for that...

i think both guys will get roughed up and come out looking like they were in an oldschool heavyweight fight...

i know floyd will dance...hatton will get his...and get cuts and floyd has the advantage to win...im not saying he doesnt but im saying if hatton sticks to a gameplan similar to what i have above he has a good chance at winning...

i still think floyd can win it...im just hoping hatton does (im not expecting him to or anything..just hoping he can pull of a huge win)

I don't see a KO, but remember Eamonn Magee floored Hatton, and he's been wobbled couple times in his last three fights. Few land punches with as much accuracy as Floyd. Floyd might, might, have that punch. Jury's out.
