Ummm, it would have proven who the better fighter is. The jury is out on that.

No it wouldn't. People who want to see Hatton fail would still say that Ricky was an overrated bum who deserves to lose, even if he knocked out Collazo in the rematch. It wouldn't have changed anything. There's only two reasons that rematches get made: Because the loser has a rematch clause and a good lawyer, or because the fight is one that people want to see again.

A rematch would have seen Hatton stripped of his title and cast adrift with basically nothing to offer. Remember that the WBA had mandated a defense against Oktay Urkal. If Hatton had rematched Collazo then he would lose the WBA title, vacate the ring title at 140 lbs and basically be one of those dangerous fighters with no pull. I wasn't happy about the Urango debacle but he followed that up with a hugely impressive win against Castillo and a showdown with the P4P king. So it would really be hard to argue with the benefit of hindsight that a rematch with Collazo would have helped his career.

Your argument about Urkal is good, it's actually what makes the most sense out of everything you wrote. In response to the rematch not changing anything: I disagree with you 100%. The only mention of Jose Luis Castillo in context to Floyd Mayweather Jr. now are from all the haters on this site. No one who is objective and expert in boxing thinks anything of Jose Luis Castillo's first fight with Mayweather, because Mayweather won the second bout pretty clearly. There also would be a lot less hate (at least the kind supported with some sort of facts) for Hatton if he had beaten him, but you are probably correct, that it wouldn't have done much for his prestige and overall career.

Collazo a "slick" counter puncher who is above average doesn't compare to PBF in terms of quickness, ability, ringsmarts, skill, and etc... So i say to you quit day dreaming and comeback to reality... unless the boxing match turns into a royal rumble and pbf get tossed over the top rope PBF will win by UD

Will Hatton give up, just take a beating, or is he somehow right about the style, should be interesting to see.
thats what ive been telling people people who dont understand boxing think hatton has a chance but like you said when he gets hit with stuff he aint never seen before whats he going to do. on dec 8th he will see the truth

But Floyd is too elusive to fall for that so it's basically going to be a massacre. Hatton is going to be eating so many straight right hands his face is going to turn into hamburger. I don't see any other outcome for this fight and anyone who thinks otherwise is thinking with their heart and not with their head. Floyd is going to beat the **** out of Hatton.
