NO! A formal offer is a promotor who already talked to the fighter and his manager makes an approach to another promotor to get a fight signed. Whatever you hear on interviews without having both parties involved is not an offer. That's like saying Wlad is ducking RJJ because RJJ says he wants to fight him.

BTW, your description of "formal offer" is inaccurate. That deviates from common contract law.

if floyd and cotto fought it would be 50/50 and who ever wins will most likely win by a split descison. cotto would have his moments by cutting off the ring and pressuring and going to the body and floyd would have his moments by out boxing cotto and moving. and both of them have great conditioning and can take a good shot so i see it being a close fight.

No doubt cotto should want nothing to do with mayweather, mayweather would pound him with pinpoint accurate punches all night long, I won't say tko until I see the hatton fight, to make sure floyd still can go for the kill, but it would be a UD in floyd's favor none the less.

its nice to see someone posting discussion instead of arguements that will be decided in the ring. If the stars align: Mayweather will be in for a fight. Cotto's jab looked impressive and this and body punches seem to be the only punches that can be landed on Mayweather cleanly. I agree also that Floyd will be moving a lot more than usual and not be able to sit down on many punches, although im sure he would land his fair share.

Im a big Mayweather fan....but that dosent mean mayweather cant lose...i try to analyse the styles in fights and try to gain an understanding of what will probably happen when 2 boxers square off...mayweather not being the exception even though im a fan....for instance in his upcoming fight mayweather will beat ricky hatton...but back to oscar...it dosent make a diffrence what size ring they fight in....for those that say mayweather ran during his fight with oscar they dont know boxing...they get an idea in their head and run with it... watch the fight again...mayweather layed on the ropes most of the night....even frddie roach after the fight said and i quote " oscar stood in front of mayweather like a statue, he didnt do what we worked on in camp"....Mayweather is way to smart....what oscar does and does well is an old technique called a parry he parries ur punches and than turns his left hook over to knock u out...it would work even better if he could do it with the right hand as well...oscar wants u to open up in order to parry ur punches and than counter with a left hook..mayweather saw this and stopped throwing alot of punches if u fight a counter puncher who starts timing u throw less... so floyd would jab...lean on ropes jab..lean...left right ...lean...oscars plan was supposed to be by what freddie roach said was to counter mayweathers jab with a right... and when mayweather started to concentrate on the right ...try to slip in the left hook...mayweather realized what oscar was doing in the fight and started throwing less...when ur fast like floyd u have a tendency to say i can hit this guy at will...but oscar aint a dumb boxer either..he times u and lets u throw and open up he'll let u whoop his azz for 3 rounds than get ur timing and parry ...a shot with his left ...than counter with a left hook..fights over... now floyd was smart ...it may boo the crowd but he's scoring...jab..lean...jab ..lean...left right...lean... oscar wasnt throwing that counter right over mayweathers jab like roach said they had worked on... maybe the speed worried him that im not sure off..but technically mayweather did not run in that fight....and he outsmarted oscar....now i think oscar would beat hatton or cotto...they'll be at MSG...and ull have the porta reecan fans cheering when cotto is opeing up on oscar...and oscar wil be thinking ok their cheering ok i see ur wife jumpin up and down for u ...than when he times cotto..left hook..fights over.... lets go have a mexican tequilla.... mayweather in a smaller ring would do the same thing against oscar...lean on the ropes.. and i dont think oscar is smart enough to adjust his gamplan to beat mayweather in a rematch...and even if he adjusted just a bit...mayweather is smart and would adjust a bit too to cancel the whole stradegy out......now have a coke and dont worry about a rematch.....

He spouts the 'running' thing cuz thats whats hot right now. Thats how çotto fights anyway...pressure.

a soda pop junkie ...thats a good point...Mayweathers Defense which i see as brilliant but people consider running is more brought to the surface because most boxers dont have good defense its like that aspect is over looked...back in ali's days everybody had defense even the guy who's record was 1-80....had good defense....not as good as floyds but not far behind if u pay attention... now its like ohhhh my God look at floyds defense its so great...but in reality its that most boxers lack a defense..... i hate to wish time to rush by ..being that life is great to live it up...but i wish the fight against hatton was tomorrow so i could watch it than send hatton back to a pub in england where he was never heard from again....

thats what im saying who the hell he beat zab judah. zab is what 3 and 6 in his last 9 fights come on. cotto better worry about sugar shane getting in his ass nov 10 that will be the biggest test of his life. i dont see cotto beating Joshua Clottey for real
