when chavez jr. moves up in competition slowly people hate on him. when margarito stepped up to good competition early in his career and lost people hated on him. it's a no win situation. margarito fought rodney jones at the age of 18 and jones went on to fight for titles. still he gets disrespected by many people on boxing scene even though he wasnt afraid to fight the best at a young age.

if chavez had already fought some really tough fighters and lost people would just say hes garbage.

Nobody's hating on Morales, Marquez, Diaz, Barrera etc
Anyway, we're talking about Chavez jr..right? Not all of Mexico. That's a whole different topic and thread. Chavez jr should follow the same paths as the fighters I mentioned above. Margarito..Tough son of ***** who can give anybody trouble, is a perfect example of someone Chavez jr shouldn't follow career wise.

If Chavez' handlers are smart they will NOW start to bring him up like Cotto was brought up. Get him 10-15 fights against mid-level fighters who show him completely different looks. Couple of past it vets, couple of solid young prospects, couple of straight forward tough guys, couple of slick boxers, etc. Let him face a dumbed down version of everything he's going to face on a higher level later.

This site cares too much about resume than actual skill.
        I agree.

Run I agree with your first post too.

My initial point was, he's a god damn boy.

And Look at him. He's grown 2 inches in 1 damn year just about. He'll probably outgrow these lower weights and end up fighting at 160 for sure.

There's just no way for him to keep making the 147 area because he looks like a damn skeleton as it is:

Yes there is a such thing as a 21 year old boy. Because people can be late bloomers physically and don't stop growing until they're 30.

He's being protected, and rightfully so. But that won't last forever, and while he's still a boy he should be allowed to wreck on Cab drivers due to the simple fact he lacks an amateur career and is being baptised in flame.

If his last name wasn't Chavez he wouldn't be on PPV events and people wouldn't be criticizing. At age 21 with his resume, his promoter might have to contact Shobox to get premium network attention. While some of his televised opponents have been kind of embarassing (not because of him, because of the networks willing to put it on TV, especially the opponent on the Adios undercard), his dismantling of guys like Grover Wiley, who had over 40 fights over 13 years, show he is talented enough to be a potential future champ. That's it - potential. I imagine there are times he wished he had a different last name, so he could develop as a fighter without so many eyes on him.

I agree with RWK. There seems to be a lot of hate on this guy, which would make sense if he was hyped, but I dont see him being hyped up in the least. He doesn't even appear to have any fans on this site.
