That would work if there weren't successful attacking boxers out there who take punches to give them back. So you can feasibly prefer brawlers and punchers whilst still following the upper echelons of the sport. if you hate this, then go watch the amateurs.

And yes, my favourite boxers are come forward guys, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate defensive skills, and understand that they are an important part of a successful fighters' makeup.

I don't know any defensive boxers who have been the face of boxing, until perhaps Mayweather now. Tyson wasn't shy of throwing a punch was he, and Ali was hit quite a few times in the face if i remember correctly....

If you don't please the crowd then you won't make money. Go work behind a desk if you're not interested in pleasing the crowd because you won't make money being boring.

Good skilled boxers do in-fact knock guys out. They just don't chase the knock-out and they're not persuaded by the crowd.

Not every fighter can get out the way of punches. To be on TV and make any kind of money, a fighter has to entertain and sell tickets. That's just the business, love it or hate it.

Zahir Raheem can win 20 fights in a row, but HBO will never pay for one of his fights again. He may have a hard time getting on ESPN2 again, given the bad press they received for his last fight. On the other hand, HBO will shell out millions everytime Gatti fights regardless of how bad he gets his ass kicked.

I agree but entertaining in what sense? My favourite boxers are entertaining in my opinion. Wright, Floyd, Mosley, Hopkins...

On the other hand I don't find Jermaine Taylor entertaining at all...

Boxing is the art of hit and don't get hit. But the emphasis should be on hitting first, not self-preservation by running away all night while not coming back with offense.

Because a boxer stands in front of his opponent and gets ****ed up does not mean that he is trying to please his you. His coach would argue that this is not part of the game plan.

The fact that a boxer can get out of the way of a punch should be applauded and rewarded. Stop living in a dream world. Bad defense does not equal pleasing the crowd.
Tell that to Cory "the insomnia cure" Spinks. Ask him how he feels about having a hard time to get networks to put his fights on TV.
