Alexander Povetkin vs. Chris Byrd: Who Will Win?

I saw on a Russian boxing website today that this fight will happen Sep 29 in Germany, on the same card as Valuev vs. Bergeron (I'm not Russian, but my wife is and she helps translate it for me).

This is a very interesting matchup...who do you think will win and how?

This is a pretty big fight early in Povetkin's career and since he was giving the opportunity it's nice to see he took the risk. Bryd's a veteran and could be crafty enough to get the decsion. I hope Povetkin wins just so there now is some new blood as far as contenders go. I mean Bryd's has had his chances and held the belt, but was never really anything special. Im going to go with Povetkin in this one becuase he's the young and hungry fighter and it seems like he might be the next big thing in the HW division.

I completely agree. I'm hoping he'll make an impact, we need a new star in the heavyweight division.

Povetkin has only a few wins and hes already fighting people like Byrd, seems like a fearless guy who would accept any challange if he's fighting one of the most ducked fighters this early in his career. If he wins in a convincable way i can safely say he would be one of the next title holder. A lot of new stars rising up in the HW division.

If Povetkin beats Byrd, it's by decision only. He's not koing or tkoing byrd. Byrd might be getting older but he still showed lots of talent against the larger klitschko.

Yea i know it would really be something to KO Byrd, that's why I think it will be hard for him because Byrd is not easy to UD.

It will be a difficult fight for Povetkin. We'll be better able to evaluate him after he fights Bryd, since "Rapid Fire" is a boxer we know well. My feeling is that Povetkin will prevail, winning by a late-round KO or TKO.

Povetkin SHOULD TKO him late, but I won't be shocked if Byrd manages a decision

I'm hoping byrd wins because then it proves how good wlad really is. if this kid ko's byrd, then it would look bad on wlads resume even if byrds older now. He shouldn't lose to this kid by ko

Chris Byrd could've easily had 5 losses in his last 6 fights, many people thought Oquendo won, many people thought Golota won, many people thought McCline won, many people thought Williamson won, Lost to Wlad.

So I see this fight to be another close fight like the other fights, my pick will be a draw or SD win for the winner.
