Hatton Plans Light Approach with Mayweather

When undefeated Ricky Hatton (43-0, 31 KOs) steps in the ring to challenge WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (38-0, 24 KOs) on Dec. 8, he won't do it as a welterweight. [details]

its only my opinion, but this seems like a mistake. I think Hatton should come in at like 143-144 lbs, which is in between 140 and 147 and will give him slightly more power/force in the ring. He will be too small at 140 to hurt mayweather in my opinion

Midway between 140 and 147 sounds about right.

When he fights at 140, he rarely comes in under 147. He is making the correct choice.

i think its the correct decision.

Why fight at a weight you aren`t comfortable with just to be a few pounds heavier.

He knows the 140lb weight, his body is used to it.

Staying at 140 will benefit him.

He will probably come around 144 lbs, but he won't cut the water weight for weigh-ins.

I've been saying this for months. When they are both in the ring on fight night they wont weigh more than a couple pounds apart anyway.

We all know he has got a good punch so coming in @ 141 or 142 is a good and smart idea. He punches harder than Floyd and at that weight will keep his speed and good foot work.

What evidence supports the claim that Hatton hits harder than Mayweather?
