Did Berto's Corner Intentionally Damage the Glove?

Not that it matters.. Or does it?

Berto looked pretty shaky when he got up. If they did it intentionally they must have felt some urgent need to do so. Who knows, maybe Andre Berto would have gotten himself knocked out at the beginning of the following round had his corner not bought him the extra moments it took to change his right glove. Surely they must have read some reaction to take such evasive and drastic action.

Who knows about that chin now.. You know?..

It may not seem like that hot of a question, but Berto was supposed to have been the hottest prospect in our sport going into that fight.

How is his future looking now?

I don't feel sure at all myself..

I won't vote yes or no. His glove was damaged in the opening rounds of the fight, it was curious that his corner only felt the need to replace it when their boy was in a bad way. Another curiosity though is that the round seemed to be cut about five seconds short and the count was very slow. Rewatch it, you'll see what I mean.

          Wait!

I remember he walked over to a corner and they cut something off of it.

Yep, I think it was about the third round, they stopped the action to cut something off the glove. Obviously that bit of damage was so grave by the sixth they just had to take the glove off and take a look!

Well, I guess the question is still did his corner deliberately manufacture a situation to buy him more time?

Right, it was rich. Instant sudden oh wow recognition.

But they were smooth and shady pros about it..

I think they took an opportunity that presented itself.

The journalists I've heard comment on this say they "pulled a Dundee."
